InuKag is the term used to refer to the romantic relationship between Inuyasha and Kagome Higurashi.
Their Relationship[]
Inuyasha[]
The Girl Who Overcame Time... and the Boy Who Was Just Overcome
On the trip to Feudal Japan Kagome notices the yōkai that grabbed her and gets scared. She pushes it away and when she does so, a purple flash of light hits it sending it away from her. Kagome then lands at the bottom of the well and, thinking she's still home, she calls for her brother to get their grandfather. Using the vines in the well to climb out she quickly notices that she isn't home anymore. She searches around the clearing hoping to find her family when she sees the Sacred Tree from her family shrine. Walking closer to the tree she notices the half-dog demon Inuyasha pinned to the tree. Being a typical girl, she reaches up and pets his cute little dog ears. The villagers, thinking that she is a demon, attack her and capture her when they notice her near Inuyasha.
While Kagome is running from the demon she calls for help. When she does this, the spell on Inuyasha breaks and he wakes up saying he smells the blood of the woman who 'killed' him, Kikyō and it's approaching. Inuyasha tries to pull out the sacred arrow pinned to his chest but couldn't as he curses. Mistress Centipede attacks Kagome and she lands in front of the Sacred Tree. Inuyasha calls Kagome 'Kikyō' and asks her why she was wasting her time with Mistress Centipede. Kagome looks up to see Inuyasha awake and thinks to herself did she just hear him talking and asks him if he's alive. Inuyasha tells Kagome to kill Mistress Centipede in one strike and calls her 'Kikyō' again and just like the time she killed him. Inuyasha becomes confused and tells Kagome to not look so dumb and asks if she's lost her mind already before calling her 'Kikyō'. Kagome stands up and asks Inuyasha who is 'Kikyō' and tells him to listen to her as her name is but is cut off. Inuyasha tells Kagome that Mistress Centipede is coming. Mistress Centipede comes out of the Sacred Tree and tries to go after Kagome but is stopped by the villagers. Kagome tells herself she is saved. Inuyasha tells Kagome that she is hopeless and calls her 'Kikyō' again. Kagome tells Inuyasha to not mistake her as she isn't 'Kikyō'. Inuyasha tells Kagome to shut up as who else would give off a scent like her and becomes confused as he sniffs her then realizes she isn't Kikyō. Kagome tells Inuyasha her name is Kagome. Inuyasha tells Kagome that Kikyō seemed smarter and was a beauty. Kagome becomes annoyed. While she is distracted, Mistress Centipede grabs her. To keep from getting taken Kagome grabs Inuyasha's hair.
Mistress Centipede attempts to bite Kagome but Kagome unknowingly blasts her, cutting off several arms like she had done in the well. Kaede tries to figure out why Inuyasha woke up when the spell should have lasted forever, while Inuyasha wonders why Kagome has the Shikon Jewel. The Shikon Jewel then glows in Kagome's side and Mistress Centipede bites her and throws her into the air. As Kagome falls, the Shikon Jewel flies out of the hole bitten in her side. Mistress Centipede then pins Kagome to Inuyasha and the tree by wrapping her long body around it. The demon insults Inuyasha, who claims he can beat her. Kagome asks if what he says is true while Mistress Centipede proceeds to eat the Shikon Jewel.
Inuyasha tells Kagome to pull the arrow out of him so he can save them. Kaede warns Kagome against it, saying Inuyasha will kill them all. Inuyasha says that they will all die if he doesn't save them, and so Kagome pulls the arrow free with the desire to live fresh in her mind. Inuyasha quickly destroys Mistress Centipede with his "Iron Reaver Soul Stealer" and Kaede gets the Jewel from her remains once Kagome tells her where it is. Kaede returns the Jewel to Kagome, telling her that she is now the protector of the Jewel. Kagome wonders how it even got inside her body when Inuyasha interrupts her thoughts, threatening to kill her if she doesn't give him the Jewel. Kagome wonders how he can be so bad after saving all of their lives and fears she may have been wrong to free him.
Seekers of the Sacred Jewel
Beginning where the previous episode left off, Inuyasha is determined to kill Kagome to get the Sacred Jewel. After saying how he hates the smell of her, he chases after Kagome into the nearby forest.
Kaede, fearing one day it would come in handy, takes out a necklace, the Beads of Subjugation, that has a spell on it. Inuyasha chases Kagome through the forest and she narrowly evades his fatal blows. Kaede then magically puts it around Inuyasha's neck and tells Kagome to use a word to restrain him. Kagome is at first confused at how she is to know what word to use. But after he nearly captures the Sacred Jewel, she quickly yells "Sit boy!" and Inuyasha plummets to the ground, smashing directly onto his face. He tries to yank off the necklace, but Kaede reveals that he does not have the power to remove it.
Afterwards, while Inuyasha is still taking in the fact Kikyō is dead, Kagome invites Inuyasha for a meal. During the meal, Inuyasha bluntly says that "whatever she was up to, [he] ain't buying it." Kagome says how she suspects that he hates her because she is Kikyō's reincarnation and looks like her and attempts for them to start fresh, but Inuyasha says that he just wants the Shikon no Tama and accuses her of trying to lure him into a trap but leading him into "a false sense of security." Kagome then states her amusement by saying that all she had to do is say the word, "Sit," sending Inuyasha plummeting to the ground on his face.
The boss gets up and his chest plate breaks and reveals a hole in his chest where the demonic crow has burrowed. Inuyasha chases the crow out of the boss and the crow flies out of the hut and snatches the Shikon no Tama in its mouth. Inuyasha is irritated to learn that Kagome doesn't have the jewel and he and Kagome chase after the crow. Before the chase, he hands Kagome a bow and arrow that he found on a horse nearby and tells her to shoot at it since Kikyō was an expert archer while she was still alive, even though Kagome has no experience in the sport (Inuyasha also secretly plans to kill Kagome after she takes out the bird). She attempts to shoot the crow down, but fails and the crow swallows the jewel, magnifying its powers. Annoyed at her failed attempts, Inuyasha literally drops Kagome onto the ground saying he didn't care what Kaede said, Kagome isn't in any way Kikyō and runs off after the bird with Kagome following right behind him.
The crow arrives at a riverside village and picks up a boy with its talons and Inuyasha slices up the crow with his claws, sending the boy falling into the river. Kagome quickly saves the boy by jumping into the river and swimming and retrieving the boy, shocking the villagers who apparently have never seen someone swim before.
The crow reassembles itself and flies off and Kagome notices one of the crow's feet is still attached to the boy. Kagome attaches the foot to an arrow and shoots the crow, knowing the foot will directly guide the arrow to the crow. The arrow, however, hits the jewel instead and shatters it, though no one sees that this has happened and hundreds of pieces shoot off in different directions. Later, Kagome and Inuyasha look for the Jewel and when the head of the crow attempts to attack Kagome, Inuyasha slices it and finds a piece of the Shikon no Tama. Kagome realizes that she shattered it and informs Inuyasha of this who yells, "What did you say?!"
Down the Rabbit Hole and Back Again
Kagome bathes in a cold lake, loudly lambasting the lack of hot baths in the feudal era. Kaede tells the villagers that Kagome is going through a purification ceremony to discourage the villagers from peeping at her. She submerges herself in the water and remembers a conversation with Kaede in which Kaede told Kagome and Inuyasha to work together as a team and find the shards of the Sacred Jewel.
After Kagome's bath, Kagome notices that Inuyasha is spying on her. Inuyasha insists that he was looking for an opportunity to steal the Shikon Shard from her and was not peeping. As Kagome quickly gets dressed in miko robes behind a bush, Kaede reiterates what she said before about Inuyasha and Kagome teaming up. Inuyasha complains about working with Kagome, who thinks he hates her because of her resemblance to Kikyō. Meanwhile, Yura is combing hair on a skull and talking to herself about the Shikon no Tama. Back with Kagome, a woman asks Kaede for some help and Kaede leaves Inuyasha and Kagome to help the woman (whose daughter suddenly feels ill). Inuyasha tells Kagome to change back into her school girl clothes. Kagome assumes it's because she looks like Kikyō and then tells him that if he keeps being so mean, there is no way that they will be able to work together. Inuyasha doesn't care because he thinks he can find the Sacred Jewel shards on his own. Kagome tells Inuyasha that she's going back home because he doesn't need her.
Back at the village, Inuyasha concludes that the village girls have decided to kill him. Suddenly an injured Kaede tells Inuyasha not to touch the girls. Inuyasha wonders how Kaede got hurt. Kaede soon learns that Kagome returned home. Kaede then tells Inuyasha that the girls are being controlled, so he shouldn't harm them. In the distance, Yura controls the hair and wraps Inuyasha in the hair. When the village men (who are also being controlled) appear, Kaede tells Inuyasha that he has to retreat, so he does. As Yura is gathering her strands she notices one of Inuyasha's silver hair strands and decides that she wants more. In the present, Kagome is delighted to be home again. Back in the past, Inuyasha is partially burying Kaede, so she can hide. Inuyasha tells her that he'll come back for her. Inuyasha runs off to find Kagome. As Inuyasha searches for Kagome, he's being followed by Yura's hair. Meanwhile, back in the present, Kagome is enjoying a hot bath.
Yura of the Demon-Hair
Back in Kagome's time, it turns dark and Kagome tells her grandfather and her little brother, Sota, about what happened to her for three days. Her mom doesn't believe it, however, Grandpa knows a thing or two about the bone-eater's well's history. To make sure it doesn't happen again, he seals the well up. Kagome dries her hair with a hair-dryer and notices that Grandpa had closed the well, to ensure that no more demons can come out of it. Kagome somehow doubts that. In Inuyasha's time he runs through the forest and picks up Kagome's scent and follows it to the well. He finds she has left her school clothes right by it and jumps into the well, believing she went back to her own time.
Meanwhile, Kagome is laying down on her bed with Buyo right by her resting. She wonders if she truly was back in feudal Japan. She then thinks back to her memories of it; Kaede telling her that she and Inuyasha must work together to get the shards and about for what Yura did to her before she got home. She knew from that she wanted the jewel for herself, but Kagome wonders if she won't give it to her. She then recalls Inuyasha telling her to go home since he doesn't need her the assignment. She finally makes her mind just to think of it all all as crazy dream. Her mom calls her down for dinner.
Sota is worried the seals won't work on the well that Grandpa put on, but Grandpa assures him they work. Kagome doesn't pay attention to as Grandpa assures them all that that no more demons shall come out of there. Just as she and her family begin to eat, Inuyasha barges in. Her family are speechless taking in his appearance. He then demands Kagome, "Who told you could go home?" Kagome asks him for how he got to her time and he quickly answers through the well. Grandpa tells him that the well has been sealed off, but Inuyasha tells him that they don't work holding up the seals. He tells her she has to go back with him to the well and back to his time to find the shards. As Kagome's mother begin to play with his ears asking if they were real, Kagome notices a hair is over his shoulder, which Inuyasha can't see but Kagome can. The hair moves in Kagome's hand and she realizes that only she and Kaede can see the hair.
She gets in the well and notices more hair, and Inuyasha was right for what Kaede told him about the hair. Kagome guesses that the hair followed Inuyasha back to her time to finish them off. Kagome finds the main hair that controls it all coming from the well. Kagome puts her hand to show the blood flowing on it and Inuyasha cuts it. Kagome knows Yura still has the shard but wonders what she wants to do with her and Inuyasha. Kagome makes up her mind and wants to go back to protect her family from further harm. Inuyasha lends his kimono over her head and tells her it's made of the hair of the fire-rat and it'll give her protection for the time being. She quietly thanks him, but Inuyasha insults her telling her that she looks even more weirder and that if she were stronger she wouldn't even need it.
They jump back into the well to return to Feudal Japan. A bunch of hair come out of the cliff up ahead in front of them. The hair gets a hold of Inuyasha and they find a giant hairball. Yura taunts Inuyasha for being a half-demon and she shows him the shards she has collected. She uses a comb to create more hair to tie Inuyasha from moving and she comments on his silver hair but is disappointed to see all the split ends he has. Yura draws her sword from underneath him and slashed him in the side of his body. Kagome shoots an arrow in front and demands her to let Inuyasha go. She fires again, almost hitting Inuyasha causing him to demand to watch where she shoots, but the third arrow shoots into the hairball and destroys it causing skulls to spill from it.
Yura attacks Kagome with a fire attack which she assumes that she'll be remain in ashes, but she is protected due to Inuyasha's kimono. Inuyasha attacks Yura with his Blades of Blood, which cuts out her right wrist, but she throws out her hand and stabs him through the shoulder. But Inuyasha pierces Yura's chest to get the pouch; also for insulting him for being a half-demon with half-power. Kagome, meanwhile, climbs up the hairball and finds the red skull which happens to be the source of her power. Yura gets a hold her instead and asks why she isn't bleeding, unaware that the kimono is protecting her from harm. Yura decides to test her by putting a strain of hair around her neck, choking her in the process. Inuyasha then uses his Blades of Blood to cut the hair to free her, also making her fall. Inuyasha, however, catches her. Yura mocks them for their attempts to kill her, declaring herself immortal. But Kagome finally realizes that Yura does have a weakness; the red skull which keeps her alive. She then stabs the red skull, shattering it. Inside the broken skull is also a red comb that snaps, finally killing Yura. Both Kagome and Inuyasha realize that Yura was really a comb. Inuyasha believes that it was probably sentient and had powers as it was once used to comb the hair of the dead. The comb may have then became "Yura" after that.
Inuyasha asks Kagome where the shard is which they finds in the remains of Yura. Inuyasha then calls Kagome by her name for the first time, surprising Kagome to finally hearing it from him. But Inuyasha tells her that he still thinks she's "pretty worthless." Kagome, upset, tells him not to rely on her when he needs something slapping him on his back inflicting pain on Inuyasha from his wounds. Kagome then says that if he was in pain he should have said something to which Inuyasha responds, "Leave me alone!"
Kaede, still buried, remains waiting for Inuyasha and Kagome to return her back to the village. She then says out loud, "He better not have forgotten where he buried me!"
Aristocratic Assassin, Sesshomaru
Meanwhile Kagome brings her bike and her first-aid kit so she can heal Inuyasha's wounds from their battle with Yura. Inuyasha is sitting in a tree and refuses to come down when Kagome tells him that she has to heal him, so Kagome tells him to "sit" to get him out of the tree. Kaede is with the other kids from their village, her arm still in a cast from her recent injury. Kaede says that she wishes Kagome and Inuyasha could start to like each other; the children tell her that Inuyasha and Kagome do like each other, but when Kaede sees Kagome on top of Inuyasha, she gets the wrong idea. So Inuyasha pushes Kagome aside and shows her that his arm is already healed without any scars on it. Out of nowhere Inuyasha feels something on his chest and it's Myōga the flea.
The group heads back to Kaede's hut that night and Myōga tells them about Inuyasha's father. Inuyasha, however, doesn't know anything about his father. Kaede told him that his father was a great demon and the western lands were his domain. When Kagome asked about his mother, Myōga told her that she was a beautiful woman that Inuyasha's father loved, and then time Inuyasha steps on Myōga and storms out, saying that his mother died a long time ago.
Kagome rides her bike back to tree where she found Inuyasha staring off into the sky. All of a sudden a strong gust of wind makes Inuyasha jump off the tree and he hides Kagome and himself in the grass. As the clouds passed by a carriage surrounded by demons flies in the air; there is a woman inside. Inuyasha identifies the woman as his mother in front of Kagome. Out of nowhere a gigantic demon ogre grabs the carriage and crushes it with Inuyasha's mother inside. As Inuyasha tries to free her, he is stopped by a poison whip belonging to his older demon brother Sesshōmaru. After making sure that Inuyasha believes his mother has been brought back from the dead, Inuyasha successfully manages to free her by using his claws to cut off one of the demon's arms. He tells Kagome to look after his mom while he fights with Sesshōmaru and Jaken. Inuyasha is hit pretty hard after Sesshōmaru hits the ogre with his whip and then Inuyasha's mother stopped the ogre from further attacking her son with a bright light.
When Inuyasha wakes up he finds himself in a nearby pond where his mother tells him that she has to go back to the spirit world. Kagome wakes up in the same place and sees Inuyasha talking with his mother. She's calm until she looks into the pond and sees that Inuyasha's mom's face doesn't have a reflection in the water, which means that she isn't his mother. When she tries to tell Inuyasha the truth she finds out that she's paralyzed. A helpless Kagome looks at Inuyasha who doesn't know that this woman is deceiving him.
Tetsusaiga, the Phantom Sword
Kagome is still paralyzed. Inuyasha's mother tells him that she has to go back to the netherworld. She takes a flower and tosses it into the pond they were by. The flower breaks into petals. She tells him to look into the water. He sees himself as a kid chasing after his ball across a bridge. He then runs into his mother's arms. They are seen sitting together at the edge of a pond, and his mother hugs him tightly, reminding him that was how she used to embrace him when he was little.
Inuyasha's "Mother" (who is actually just an illusion of his mother), who has hugged him and kept him in an illusion opens her kimono naked, and tries to absorb him into her body. Jaken comes out of nowhere and quickly hits her and tells her not to do so until they find out where his father's tomb is. Jaken tells her to ask Inuyasha where his father's grave is. Inuyasha is pushed into the "water" (something that it is merely an illusion) and he says that he sees a black pearl to the right. Jaken doesn't know what he's talking about, and says to look deeper. The Unmother then says if she goes any deeper than Inuyasha's soul will be shattered, but Jaken says he doesn't care as long as they have the information they need.
Kagome is woken up by Myōga who sucks her blood and she realizes that she's less paralyzed then she initially thought. Myōga tells her that the woman is the Unmother who feeds on the souls of lost children. Myōga shows Kagome the reflection in the water and they see the Unmother holding Inuyasha when he was a kid. Kagome finds Jaken and strikes him sending him flying into the water and then takes the staff of two heads before she chases after the Unmother, and splashes the reflection which causes the Unmother to release Inuyasha. Sesshōmaru appears and tells them that he knows where the tomb is located.
As Inuyasha attacks Sesshōmaru, Sesshōmaru grabs his neck and stabs two fingers into Inuyasha's right eye, drawing out a small black pearl. Inuyasha attacks Sesshōmaru again, but he dodges and attacks Inuyasha. Just when he is about to strike him, the Unmother blocks Sesshōmaru and takes the fatal blow instead. Myōga says that even though she has no children, she has the heart of a mother and wanted to protect Inuyasha. Sesshōmaru tells Jaken to come to him and Jaken gives him the Staff of Two heads. He places the bottom of it onto the pearl, and the face of the old man on the staff laughs and opens a portal to the netherworld. Sesshōmaru and Jaken enter the portal with Inuyasha, Kagome, and Myōga quickly following behind.
They enter into the netherworld, which turns out to be demon lord's grave. Skeletal vultures circling the humongous skeleton in armor which happens to Inuyasha's father. Inside the skeleton Sesshōmaru and Jaken have found what they've been looking for; the Tessaiga, a sword that was made from the fang of Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru's father's own mouth. When Sesshōmaru grabs the hilt of the sword, he isn't able to pull it out, and realizes that his father but up a barrier. Inuyasha and Kagome and Myōga find him and Myōga tells him to get the sword, revealing it was always intended that Inuyasha inherit the sword after his father passed, which should be proof enough for him to be able to get it out. Inuyasha doesn't think he should bother taking the sword taking in its rusty appearance remarking that it couldn't even cut wet paper. But Myōga insists he pull it out, but Inuyasha cockily says his brother can keep "the rusty piece of junk," and attempts to battle his brother again, but fails and Myōga says he cannot fight unarmed and must get the sword. This time Kagome encourages him to "get the dumb sword," and if he can't hit Sesshōmaru's body then to hurt his ego, convincing Inuyasha to pull out the sword. But when Inuyasha does try, he sees that he isn't able to get it out either despite his best strength.
Sesshōmaru loses his patience and attacks Inuyasha while Kagome fights Jaken, having gotten annoyed with him. After getting distracted, Sesshōmaru gets a hold of Inuyasha and is prepared to strike him. Jaken overwhelms Kagome when he knocks his staff into her gut and she places her hand on the sword's handle to steady herself. Sesshōmaru intrudes his poison claws to Inuyasha and just when he is about to kill him, Kagome notices and calls out Inuyasha's name and in the midst of her emotions, yanks out the sword shocking everyone including herself. The episode ends with Kagome thinking, "Now what?"
Showdown! Inuyasha vs. Sesshomaru!
Sesshōmaru then forgets about Inuyasha and asks Kagome how she was able to draw the sword (unaware she could since she was human; not demon like he and Inuyasha) and then contemplates that she must die because of it. Inuyasha protests demanding he leave her alone as she was not involved in this and that she was only "a human girl," and tells Kagome to give Sesshōmaru the sword as there was no other choice. However, Kagome refuses saying that because he couldn't pull it out clearly meant he wasn't supposed to have it. Inuyasha then argues with her about the matter and Sesshōmaru then says Inuyasha's patience with Kagome was "astonishing" to him before adding on how he "protects her, indulge her, even seem to love her," (which Inuyasha answers with a simple frustrated sigh). Sesshōmaru then remarks these "feelings of mercy" weren't something he inherited from their father, but Inuyasha must have inherited from his mother and what made him have a connection towards humans, and then states that he bears no such weakness.
Sesshōmaru then blasts poison out of his hands at Kagome, completely burying her in a pile of it, apparently killing her as Inuyasha calls out her name. Sesshōmaru and Inuyasha then battle once again when Sesshōmaru insults half-breeds referring to Inuyasha. Inuyasha braces himself as Sesshōmaru launches more poison whips at him. Inuyasha gets more insults from Sesshōmaru for being called a half-demon.
Inuyasha then thinks back his childhood to where men from his village were playing a ball game. When he tried to approach them, they kicked the ball away, coldly calling him a half breed. Inuyasha runs to his mother asking her what a half-breed is. She doesn't give him an answer, instead she hugs him tightly and starts crying. Then Inuyasha realizes his mother didn't wanted to answer it because she knew what his life would be like because of it. Inuyasha becomes angry saying that he can take the insults; but not the ones for his mother. He then takes several swings at Sesshōmaru's armor; one for his mother and then another for Kagome, the second actually breaking the armor. However, Sesshōmaru further insults him saying if that's what it took to make him fight he would have killed Kagome a long time ago.
Just when Inuyasha threatens him again Kagome suddenly bursts out of the poison pile perfectly unharmed. She is in a short rage for attempting to be killed before she quickly gives Inuyasha the sword so he can finish Sesshōmaru off. However, he is confused as to how she is still alive, but Sesshōmaru realizes that the sword is what preserved Kagome's life, something Myōga confirms. Sesshōmaru suddenly transform into a giant dog, which is his true demon form and starts releasing gas. Inuyasha orders Kagome and Myōga to get to higher ground so they won't get harmed and Kagome hesitantly does worrying about him since the gas will harm demons as well given in a few minutes. Sesshōmaru attacks Inuyasha and Inuyasha sees his sword isn't leaving so much as a scratch. Sesshōmaru eventually gets Inuyasha in his mouth and they battle outside the tomb where Kagome has escape too. Kagome attempts to encourage him saying that the swords is his and all he has to do is believe in it like she does him. Inuyasha calls her nuts saying he'll live since he's half demon whereas she "ain't got a chance." Kagome then starts to cry asking if this meant she should just give up hope. Inuyasha then demands her not to cry and when she mockingly asks if she should "laugh" he snaps at her that she should "shut up" and let him protect her, surprising Kagome.
Inuyasha resumes his fight telling her to stay where she is. Suddenly the sword begins to pulse and grows bigger and turns into a dog fang and when Sesshōmaru pounces onto Inuyasha with his left paw, Inuyasha jumps at him and cuts off his left arm. Inuyasha then declares that it was their father who chose to leave the sword to him, to hide his tomb in, and that he wasn't so worthless after all. Sesshōmaru attacks him one last time, but Inuyasha manages to defeat sending him off the skeleton. Jaken, shocked to see his lord defeated, rushes after him as the both escape to the normal world. Inuyasha takes back what he said about his sword earlier saying it's not a "piece of junk" after all. Myōga shows up with skeleton vultures for a ride home. They return to the normal world and the black pearl returns from to Inuyasha's right eye. They get back to Kaede's hut where Myōga informs Kaede about what happened. Keade asks why Kagome was able to get the Tessaiga where Sesshōmaru, who was a powerful daiyōkai, and Inuyasha couldn't. Myōga said that Kagome was mortal and the purpose of the Tessaiga was to protect Inuyasha's mother who was also a human and that it was Inuyasha's feelings towards mortals that enabled him to wield the sword. Kagome then recalls that when Inuyasha told her he would protect her the Tessaiga reacted. Kaede then says how to Inuyasha his half demon/human heritage has always been a curse and that his love for his mother has always been tinged with shame but yet those feelings is what make him different among other demons and why his father chose him for his resting place. She then speculates that maybe the one that most resembled their father was not Sesshōmaru but Inuyasha.
Meanwhile, Inuyasha is up in his tree swing the sword in its rusty form trying to figure out how to get it to work again. Kagome then shows up and calls to him saying she knows how to get him to use the sword again. Inuyasha doubts her advice and when she refers to him earlier telling her that he would protect her, Inuyasha quickly yells that he didn't mean it like "that," and says how the sword should be used to "collect more jewel shards and making him more powerful," and that he isn't wasting it on "babysitting a helpless little human" like her. Kagome then pushes him onto the log bridge confusing him. She then gets back onto the end on the land and says "sit, boy" which causes Inuyasha to automatically slam face down onto the logs breaking them and causing him to fall into the river below.
The Toad Who Would Be Prince
Kagome is swimming in a lake and states that she likes the water and fresh air, while Inuyasha and Myōgaare up in a tree. Inuyasha complains that Myōga told them that they would be able to find Shikon Jewel shards in the land of Musashi. Myōga isn't listening, though, as he is more preoccupied with Kagome swimming in the lake. A small white flash of light comes dashing through, which Inuyasha notices. Inuyasha follows it and Myōga tells him that he's a naughty boy going to see Kagome in her bathing suit. Kagome screams, which made Inuyasha land on a stone in the lake. He says that it's not what it looks like. Kagome agrees, stating that she was startled because her clothes had been stolen. Inuyasha hears a whistle. Nearby, a young samurai is waiting for this monkey to return. The monkey gave him Kagome clothes then he was shocked to see it, saying that he had hoped the monkey would have brought him food. Inuyasha and Kagome pop out of the bush that was by the samurai and demands that he give Kagome's clothes back. The samurai draws his sword as he thinks they are suspicious, and Inuyasha was going to ask the same thing. Kagome gives the samurai some potato chips and tea. They introduce themselves and the samurai reveals that his name is Nobunaga. Kagome knows about him from her history class and wants to get an autograph from him. But he wasn't actually Oda Nobunaga like she had hoped, it was Amari Nobunaga; this disappointed Kagome. He goes to leave but instead Nobunaga falls down a shallow cliff, showcasing his clumsiness.
In a village there were a line of young girls being taken to a castle. Amari finds out that the rumors about the young girls are true. Inuyasha and Kagome tag along with him to go the castle where the girls are taken to. Meanwhile a young princess named Tsuyu was serving a drink to a bandaged lord. The princess asked him about the rumors of the young girls being taken to the castle, but the lord angrily replies that he won't tell her as he slams his fists on the ground. Tsuyu begs for his forgiveness. The group arrive at the bottom of the castle and Inuyasha smells a demon nearby, so they enter. When they do they find a couple of guards sleeping, though it does not seem natural; it turns out that most - if not everyone - in the castle is asleep in the same manner. Amari calls Tsuyu in the castle; they come into the room and they find her. Myōga sucks her blood to wake her. Tsuyu happily greets Nobunaga, stating that of course she remembers him as they've known each other since they were kids. Kagome deduces that Amari must be in love with Tsuyu. Tsuyu tells them that her lord husband slipped in the pond and got a terrible fever and has been acting strange ever since.
As they speak, the lord enters the room. Inuyasha slashed the bandages off and it turns out that the lord is a possessed by a toad demon, having taken on its appearance. Kagome sees a glow on his right shoulder which happened to be a shard of the Sacred Jewel. Myōga warns Inuyasha that the toad is a formidable foe, much stronger than it appears. Inuyasha assures him he can defeat it. The toad breathes out toxic fog which knocks Inuyasha down. The toad demon attacks Nobunaga with its tongue, impaling him through the shoulder.
Inuyasha hits the toad in the head, which apparently caused the young lord to regain his consciousness, expressing horror for the actions he has been forced to commit. He then begs to be killed, for his actions are unforgivable. Inuyasha then moves to kill the toad, but Nobunaga stops him, saying that he soul of the lord (Tsuyu's husband) is still alive inside the toad; aside from that, Nobunaga does not like bloodshed of any kind, regardless of the situation. Nobunaga tells Inuyasha to sheathe his sword, which he does, telling Nobunaga that is his problem now. But the toad demon shows that it actually was still in control, and it was just manipulating them. The toad attacks Nobunaga again in the shoulder. Kagome quickly gets the princess away from the toad. Myōga tells Kagome that the toad's weakness is fire. Nobunaga's monkey finds a small flame, but Inuyasha appears informs Kagome that luxury something they cannot afford for the battle, preparing to kill the lord and toad demon simultaneously. Kagome knows that she can still save the lord, and she tells Inuyasha to "Sit", which allowed her to use her hairspray with the fire to burn the toad out of the lord's body; Inuyasha kills the fleeing toad demon and retrieves the shard. Nobunaga is grateful. Tsuyu runs into her husband, making Nobunaga upset. Nobunaga admits he is a fool. When leaves he falls off the same shallow cliff that he did before. Inuyasha and Kagome look down and agree with his confession.
Enter Shippo... Plus, The Amazing Thunder Brothers!
It begins when Kagome makes some noodles for Inuyasha and Myōga. Inuyasha is impressed with her cooking skills, and tells her to start eating. But Kagome says that she can't possibly eat in a wasted battlefield and asks him why they couldn't stop by a river or a field of flowers. Myōga is fascinated with Kagome's things, like her bicycle, her food and a kettle. He asks if her country does a lot of trading with foreigners from the south. Kagome answered that cup noodles were invented in Japan for Astronauts during the space age. She tells them that humans have gone into space, even to the moon. When they ask how, she tells them that they use rocket ships. The sky suddenly grows dark and a strange blue light appears seemingly out of nowhere. The fire is a trick belonging to Shippō, a mischievous little fox yōkai.
He turns into a big pink balloon. Inuyasha slaps him and grabs him by the tail. Kagome wants to hold him after that. Shippō replaces himself with a jizo statue on Inuyasha's hand, browses through Kagome's bag and takes the fragments of the Shikon no Tama. He disappears in a puff of foxfire. Inuyasha and Kagome think he vanished, only to see a skull with a fox tail suspiciously sticking out moving away from them. He tells them that his father has recently been killed by two Thunder Brother demons named Hiten and Manten. It comes to show that Hiten has three fragments of the Shikon no Tama in his forehead and Manten has two shards on his forehead along with Shippō's father around his waist. Myōga knows them right off the bat. Inuyasha was insulted by Shippō for calling him a half-demon, so Inuyasha hits his head a couple of time. Shippō begs forgiveness and gets Inuyasha where he wanted. He puts a bigger statue on his hands and puts a charm on it, making it impossible to move. Shippō tricks Kagome with his fox fire and got the bottle with the shards and runs off. Kagome chases him leaving Inuyasha behind.
Meanwhile, Myōga is trying to take off the charm that holds the jizo statue in place. Shippō tells Inuyasha that he'll remove the charm as long as Inuyasha promises not to hit him. Inuyasha agrees. But as soon as Shippō removes the charm, Inuyasha punches his head a couple of times, picks Shippō up by the tail and shakes him until the bottle with the Shikon no Tama fragments falls out. Shippō tells Inuyasha that Kagome has been kidnapped by the Thunder Brothers. Inuyasha says that Shippō doesn't smell like he avenged his father and asks him if he sat by and watched as they kidnapped Kagome. Shippō says that Inuyasha has to do something because Kagome is "his woman."
Inuyasha throws him on the ground and says that she isn't his woman, but agrees to save her if Shippō will beg forgiveness. But it wouldn't hurt to save her. Myōga tells Shippō that it is time for him to be a man and just do it.
At the Thunder Brothers' tribe, Manten prepares some sort of potion that his mother taught him. Kagome comes to and finds herself being the next ingredient for his potion. Kagome yells, Manten tries to get her to keep her voice down. Hiten barges in with a vixen. Hiten asks Manten who Kagome is. Manten says that Kagome is his prey and that Hiten can't have her. Hiten says that the vixen is much more desirable than Kagome. Hiten asks Manten if he's found any Shikon no Tama fragments, but Manten told him that he did but lost it. Hiten, annoyed, kills the vixen for Manten being more concerned about Kagome than the shards. Kagome comes up with a plan to trick them into believing that Inuyasha has more shards than they do all together. She tells them that Inuyasha is in love with her, that he'd give the shards for her as a ransom. Hiten warns her that if she is lying she'll be killed on the spot.
Inuyasha along with Shippō run towards the Thunder Brothers. Myōga tells Inuyasha the they eat women. Inuyasha doesn't think Kagome is pretty and brave. Inuyasha gets out of the way from a lightning attack from Hiten. Inuyasha is relieved to see her okay, but is confused when Hiten refers to her as his lover. Hiten attacks, before Inuyasha draws the Tessaiga to block Hiten's weapon.
Phantom Showdown: The Thunder Brothers vs. Tetsusaiga
The episode begins with Manten riding a floating carriage pulled by a Pegasus with two lovely girls by him because of his flowing hair. When his hair falls out, the girls flee. Manten falls off his bed realizing it was just a dream. Meanwhile, Inuyasha seeks out the Thunder Brothers to rescue Kagome, and before long Inuyasha is battling against Hiten. Manten attends to give Hiten a hand but Kagome pushes him off the cloud including herself. she lands on Manten. Just as Manten to kill Kagome, Shippō uses his Spinning top illusion to stop him.
When the illusion faded the last piece of Manten's head falls out which makes him even angrier than before. Kagome got an idea for Shippōuses his shape-changing tricks to transform himself into an illusion of herself to trick Manten into thinking he is her, so Kagome can attack him. When Manten gets Shippō thinking he is Kagome by the hair, Shippō uses his hair to tangle Manten down. Kagome then yanks the arrow out of Manten's nose. Just when Kagome gets ready to strike his head to get the shards, Manten overpowers them, before proceeding to choke Kagome. Inuyasha hears her cries of help and tries to get to her, however Hiten wounds him on his shoulder with his weapon during his short distraction. Hiten gets Inuyasha down to the ground and give him a choice on who to die first; him or his friends. Hiten then asks Manten what he wants to do with them; Manten answers that he's fine with Kagome and Shippō on his end. Inuyasha then grabs Tessaiga and throws it, missing Hiten. Hiten expresses how he is not impressed with his throw, but Inuyasha asks himself if he got his target just as the sword impales Manten's body fatally wounding him. Kagome is released from his grasp, and gets Shippō and Tessaiga, but Shippō wants her to get his father's fur. But she can't carry them both.
Inuyasha then makes sure that Kagome and Shippō are okay and Kagome apologizes since she couldn't get Tessaiga when they were caught in the blast from Manten's attack. Hiten, furious for his brother's death, devours Manten to absorb his powers and his shards and pursues Inuyasha to avenge his brother. Myōga comes out of nowhere and Inuyasha is asking about his disappearance. Hiten, now more powerful than he was, attacks the group. Inuyasha orders Kagome to get away from him for his battle for her and Shippō's safety. Hiten make a lightning Ball and shoots it at Inuyasha. Since he can't avoid the attack, Myōga tells him to use the sheath to block it, and which works since the sheath keeps the Tessaiga in check for it can even repel a lightning bolt attack. Inuyasha believe he can defeat Hiten with the sheath, but Hiten attacks from behind him. Shippō wakes up in his father's fur and Kagome tells him what happened.
Hiten and Inuyasha continue battle and Kagome realizes that Hiten uses his wheel to fly. Shippō transforms into what appears to be somewhat of a snail however, he reveals that he is, in fact, a bow so Kagome can use her arrow to take aim at Hiten's wheel. She and Shippō manage to destroy one of the wheels and Inuyasha grabs the Thunder Pike. Myōga, all of sudden, is right by Kagome and Shippō. Inuyasha throws away the sheath and punches Hiten before quickly going for the sheath, but it begins to crack. Shippō runs off to get the sword and Kagome goes after him with his father's fur. Hiten, seeing this, blows them away with Manten's lightning that comes out of his mouth. Kagome and Shippō then are blown onto the ground as fire consumes the ground along with them.
Inuyasha, believing them to be dead, becomes enraged and headbutts Hiten. Hiten then believes he Inuyasha where he wants him. The sheath then pulses calling the Tessaiga to it. Inuyasha grabs his sword and slashes Hiten in the middle killing him, leaving the five shards on the ground. However, Inuyasha doesn't care about them wishing he could have saved Kagome and Shippō instead. Kagome and Shippō suddenly appear in a green fog and Myōga believes it is their dead souls coming to bid Inuyasha goodbye before crossing over, but Inuyasha openly says he doesn't want want them to leave and grabs Kagome arm, surprising her. The green fog then shoots up into the air and Inuyasha screams Kagome's name before realizing the two are still there. Shippō looks out to the sky thanking his father for saving them; it being revealed he used the remains of his powers to protect them from the fire. Myōga reveals this as Fox Fire. Inuyasha, embarrassed to have shown more emotion than he usually does, quickly turns around away from Kagome who is confused about what his problem is.
In the end of the episode, Kagome insists to know why Inuyasha is upset. Myōga then explains that Inuyasha is ashamed to have believe that Kagome and Shippō were dead and in a moment of grief showed more emotion than he bargained for. Shippō tags along with them saying that since he's now orphan he cannot get by in the world; which Inuyasha reluctantly agrees to. Inuyasha then makes fun of him and Kagome hits him on the head, demanding he apologize to Shippō.
Terror of the Ancient Noh Mask
The episode opens with Kagome riding her bike as fast as she can, intending to return home to study, but Inuyasha beats her to the well. He demands that she give him the shards they collected, but Kagome tells him that she has to take this test as she has missed a lot of school ever since her time in the Feudal Era. Regardless, Inuyasha attempts to put a large rock over the well to prevent Kagome from traveling through it; however, before he can do so, Kagome uses the sit spell repeatedly, causing the boulder to fall onto Inuyasha's back and hence trapping him under its weight. Kagome tells him that she won't be back in three days, warns him not to follow her and then jumps into the well to modern Tokyo.
At breakfast, her mother informs her that she will place her new uniform in her room. Sōta asks about Inuyasha, only for Kagome reject the notion haughtily and say that it was difficult enough to lose him. Pondering about how much her life has changed, she thinks about how she has been living at the Higurashi Shrine since she was born, along with her grandfather, her mother, and her little brother Sōta. She also recalls how the demons are after the shards of the Sacred Jewel.
Back at Kaede's place, Inuyasha reveals that his back is still sore as a result of Kagome's successive use of the "sit" command, thus refusing Kaede's instruction for him to get more information about the Sacred Jewel.
Still hospitalized, Grandpa is shown jerking upright in bed, repeating the same words he said while unconscious. The Noh Mask barges into Kagome's house by smashing the window of her bedroom with the fire truck, and the latter shields her brother protectively. Upon seeing it reach for the tiny bottle containing the Sacred Jewel shards, she quickly lunges forward and seizes the object before it can; together with Sōta, she escapes, thinking that she has to get to Inuyasha. Around this point in time, she accidentally cuts herself on the glass.
After sending Sōta to get Inuyasha, Kagome flees into the darkness. Unfortunately, Sōta's attempt to heed his sister's order results in him landing head first at the bottom of the well, unable to get through. The boy bursts into tears, screaming that if he doesn't get through, his sister will die. Surprisingly, at that precise moment, the ground below him begins to glow and Inuyasha appears. With Sōta on his back, they go to Kagome's aid. While leaping from building to building, Inuyasha tells Sōta that in his world, there are a lot of demons who would love to have him for lunch. He then reveals that with his acute sense of smell, he could smell Kagome from the well, and they'd be able to find her by following the scent of the blood drawn by the glass. This causes Sōta to contemplate about whether or not Inuyasha was really as bad as Kagome made him out to be.
At the same time, a panting Kagome is at the construction site where the Noh Mask is about to kill her for the shards of the Sacred Jewel, and notices that Inuyasha isn't there yet. Just as it is slowly advancing toward her, Inuyasha arrives on the scene and uses his Iron Reaper Soul Stealer on the mask's body, slicing it in half. Inuyasha interrupts the siblings' reunion, saying slightly irksomely that he doesn't mind helping them, but he wants Kagome to apologize for the sit commands that injured his back. Kagome remembers that and apologizes with a smile, but Inuyasha doesn't buy it, saying that he's going home. Miffed, she informs him that the mask has a shard of the Sacred Jewel, only for him to continue putting up a stubborn front. Sōta observes their interaction in confusion, thinking that Inuyasha seems to be smitten with his sister.
Subsequently, the Noh Mask starts moving again. It turns out that the mask was carved from a demon tree that had a fragment of the Sacred Jewel embedded in it centuries ago. Since then, it has consumed the flesh of humans and wants an everlasting body - and for that, it requires the power of the Sacred Jewel. Yelling out his typical cocky battle banter, Inuyasha charges forward and punches the mask; however, it splits into two vertically and his hand is ensnared in the two rows of hooked teeth, revealing that he has fallen into its trap. The Noh Mask proceeds to draw Inuyasha in before charging at Kagome, who has the bottle. In a moment of desperation, she throws it to Sōta, marking him as the mask's next target. However, as Sōta tries to escape, he trips and falls to the floor. He contemplates hurling the bottle away just to save himself, but eventually gets back on his feet and resumes running. Within moments, he finds himself at the edge of the building, but thankfully, Inuyasha comes to his aid just in time to slice through the Noh Mask, causing it to shatter. Its Sacred Jewel shard falls onto the ground, still billowing smoke.
Sōta, saved by Inuyasha, from then on admires him immensely, calling him his "hero". The latter turns around to ask Kagome in a different tone if she's hurt, to which she responds dazedly that she isn't. Inwardly, she admits that in that moment, he seems a little attractive. Seeing the sun rise, Kagome realizes that it is morning and rushes home to change her clothes after entrusting Sōta with the task of collecting the newfound Sacred Jewel shard and instructing Inuyasha to return to the Feudal Era. She is then seen running to school while attempting to study for an important test that day.
The Soul Piper and the Mischievous Little Soul
Kagome gets back to her time and has a talk with Mayu's mother to see what really happened. It turned out that Mayu had had an argument with her on the day of the fire, and had subsequently run away. She assumed that Mayu was simply at a neighbour's apartment. When the fire broke out, she managed to save Satoru, but the other firemen found Mayu dead; unbeknownst to her, Mayu had been hiding in a closet in order to play a trick on her, and had unknowingly caused the fire in the first place. Just then, they hear a disturbance from Satoru's room, and find Mayu wrecking the room. Kagome tells her to stop, and Mayu's mother realizes she's there. Mayu uses some force to throw her mother out of the room. Kagome tries to get her to understand what happened. More rage comes of her which cause the bed to fall out, but Inuyasha (who unknown to anyone had come to the present) manages to catch Satoru just in time. Inuyasha tells Kagome to give up and that Mayu will never make it to heaven.
At that moment, the Soul Piper appears, its eyes opening completely. It catches her with chains and drags Mayu away. In hot pursuit, Inuyasha says he was informed by Myoga that the Soul Piper is taking Mayu to the place of her death, where it will cast her into hell. Kagome and Inuyasha land on the apartment balcony and head inside, but Kagome vanishes from his back. Frustrated, Inuyasha realizes that Kagome has shifted into the spirit realm, but he is unable to do so because it is meant for humans and he is half yōkai; Kagome is on her own.
In the dark Mayu is in chains and hears the fire crackling, she opens the door and realizes that she is at the place of her death. Kagome calls her name and tries to save her. Mayu tells her that she's dead, but a portal to hell appears, with chains appearing to drag her to hell. Kagome quickly grabs her hand to save her and urges her to make up with her mother before she leaves for good. After hearing Kagome, and remembering the enjoyable times she had with her mother, Mayu realizes that her mother did indeed love her, and pleads for a chance to apologize to her. The chains then break and the portal disappears.
The next day Mayu's mother goes to the burned apartment, and goes to the closet where Mayu died. Mayu appears behind her and asks her to forgive for what she had done. She does and Mayu says goodbye. On the rooftop Inuyasha scolds Kagome that she could have gotten dragged down to hell with Mayu, but to Kagome, it was a risk she had to take. One week later, Kagome is in her bedroom doing some homework, when Mayu calls to her from outside her window. Kagome really loves her yukata (summer kimono) that her mother made for her. Kagome reflects to herself that Mayu was just an ordinary little girl who loved her mother. Mayu goes and dances to the tune from the Soul Piper as they both vanish.
The Mystery of the New Moon and the Black-Haired Inuyasha
In Tokyo Kagome rushes out of the class, but her friend Yuka told her that they have clean up duty to do. Kagome promises that she'll make it up to them but she really has to go see someone. Her friends assume its her "boyfriend," even though Kagome insists she doesn't have one. When she is about to finally leave the classroom, she bumps into Hōjō who brought a half cut bamboo branch. Hōjō asks Kagome to go to a movie with him on Saturday. Her friends try to convince her to go, but when Kagome is hesitant they think she has never been on a date before, Kagome insists she has... which is actually a lie. She then finally says yes to Hōjō.
Later on, back in the feudal era, Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippō find spiderwebs crossing the river as they ride on a small wooden boat downstream. They find a girl named Nazuna, who is under attack by Spider Head demons and to avoid a swing at her, she falls off a cliff. Inuyasha jumps off the boat and catches her in time. Nazuna at first thanks him, but then sees his demon dog ears and hits him in the back of his head causing them to fall into the river. It turns out that she greatly despises demons, instantly developing a dislike towards Inuyasha and Shippō. Shippō tries to explain that not all demons are created equal, but she would have no part of it. She tells them about the Spider Head demons have been attacking some villages lately. Kagome wants Inuyasha to help out to find a way to kill them. But Inuyasha behaves strangely, which worries Kagome. Nazuna brushes them off and tries to head back herself, but ends up falling to the ground. With some convincing from Kagome, Inuyasha carries her to the temple where a Temple priest assures that they'll stay at the temple that night saying how they have demon seals to protect them. Inuyasha doesn't want to stay, but under some insistence from Kagome, grudgingly agrees.
Later that night, Kagome asked him why Inuyasha has been acting weird lately. Shippō turns into a spider assuming he's afraid of them which Inuyasha snaps that he isn't, flattening the fox demon. He goes out and notices that the temple has been surrounded by Spider Heads despite the protection the priest said he had there. Inuyasha draws the Tessaiga and for some reason it doesn't transform and doesn't make a scratch on the Spider Heads. The Spider Heads blast webs all over him but Shippō uses his fox fire to break them off. Kagome gets him, and they all flee into the forest. Nazuna, realizing they are under attack, rushes to the priest and sees that he is hurt.
In the forest, Kagome is shocked to see that Inuyasha has become human. Inuyasha tells them that he can't help them while he is in human form. When Kagome asks how he has become human, Myōga tells them that every half demon has a short period every month where they lose all of their demonic powers; Inuyasha's is during the new moon. Kagome is clearly hurt and surprised that Inuyasha didn't tell her this information. Inuyasha tells her that he has been on his own for so long that he doesn't know how to trust anyone. Kagome starts to cry saying how she wishes he would open up to her a little more before yelling at him them that he's going to pay big time for what he did; causing the two to fight. Shippō, during this, silently thinks that he is the only one who can protect them now when he hears a rustle; he gets scared when Nazuna comes out and urges them to come to the temple to aid the priest. Inuyasha declines the offer, but Kagome remembers that her bag is still in there and clearly becomes anxious. Inuyasha blows her off telling her to get a new on when they go back, but she confesses to him that the Sacred Jewel shards were in there as well, which alarms him. Inuyasha then lend the sword's sheath to her in order to protect her when they go back to retrieve the shards. Inuyasha grabs Shippō and they head back to the temple.
Back at the temple it turns out the priest is the Spider Head demon leader. Inuyasha throws some wood pillars at him to stop his attempts to get the shards from Kagome's bag. Shippō gets some of the shards but the Spider Head manages to get some of the shards, consuming them. The Spider Head attacks Inuyasha and pins him to a wall and bites him on the shoulder; poisoning him. He then demands from Shippō to tell him where the rest of the shards. Shippō points to a door, but his bluff isn't enough to fool him. Nazuna and Kagome come in and realize that the priest had been deceiving Nazuna from the very beginning. Shippō tells her that Inuyasha has been poisoned. Kagome runs in to help and the Spider Head blasts webs at her, but the Tessaiga protects her from his attack. Kagome climbs on the webs to save Inuyasha. Inuyasha tells her it is over and to run and save herself while she still could. Kagome refuses to leave without him and jumps off the webs, hitting the webs that bound Inuyasha with the Tessaiga, freeing him. Inuyasha sees Kagome crying for him before he is freed and then passes out.
The group hurries with Nazuna who takes them to a small room for them stay safe. Myōga tells Kagome to put the sword on the door to prevent the demon from coming in; though it will last for only a short while. Myōga then rushes to Inuyasha and sucks out the poison from him and then says that all he can do now is to rely on his strength to survive. Inuyasha begins to breath heavily and also begins to sweat. Kagome, noticing, takes out her handkerchief and wipe of the sweat. He wakes up and asks her why she was crying when she jumped to save him. She answers that she thought she was going to lose him; that he was going to die. Inuyasha expresses how he is touched that she cried for him before asking if he could rest his head on her lap. She concedes to his request. During this time, Inuyasha says how she smells kind of "nice," surprising her. She brings up how he made a direct point of telling her before that he couldn't stand her scent. He admits he did, but then confesses that he was lying. Kagome wonders if the poison has gone to his head as he falls asleep.
There is a short time of peace, but then the Spider Head breaks into the room. Myōga says they have to get Inuyasha out of there, but Kagome sees that he is unconscious. The Spider Head grabs Shippō to take the remaining shards and swallows them. Nazuna believes that the Spider Head has possessed her master, but the Spider Head bluntly says that he was no priest and it was all a trick to get Inuyasha. She attacks him but it is no use and he grabs her, preparing to eat her. She asks her father to forgive her for trusting the Spider Head and drops the sword. Before it can fall, the Tessaiga is caught by Inuyasha who turns out to be okay, and expresses how he admires Nazuna's determination. The Spider Head grabs him instead, but Inuyasha has a smile on his face; the sun is rising, allowing Inuyasha to return to his demon form and re-gain his demonic powers.
With his powers, and those of Tessaiga back, Inuyasha easily dispatches the Spider Heads. After Inuyasha defeats the Spider Heads, the shards of the jewel are revealed to have fused together while in the Spider Head; showing they have about less than half of the entire jewel. They leave by boat and Nazuna thanks for their help and remembers to trust the demons a bit more and that some demons aren't bad.
While on the boat Kagome thinks about what happened the previous night and wonders if Inuyasha actually meant it or not and wonders if she should ask him. Inuyasha then asks if she was going to keep staring at him since it was "ticking him off," and if she "had something to say, say it." Kagome then gives him a flat look and figures that some things were better left unsaid. Shippō then asks for a break from the boat ride because of his seasickness. Inuyasha blows him off and Shippō then throws up on Inuyasha.
Kikyo's Stolen Ashes
Inuyasha then wakes up from a tree and realizes it was just a dream and looks down to find Kagome and Shippō sleeping soundly by a fire. He decides to sit by Kagome and stares at her thinking how she is almost identical in appearance to Kikyō and wonders if that is the reason why he had the dream. Kagome suddenly wakes up and slaps him in the face. She then asks him if he wanted to talk about something while yawning. Inuyasha then abruptly tells her that she doesn't look anything like Kikyō, confusing Kagome. He then sees Urasue carrying the scent of graveyard soil and Kaede's blood.
The groups returns to village and find Kaede injured. Inuyasha tells Kaede that she's still alive and guess not even a flesh wound will keep her down. Everyone walks up the steps. Kaede tells Inuyasha that he has caught the scent of her blood on the demon. Inuyasha says to Kaede to think of her age and take it easy. Kagome realizes Inuyasha wanted to return because he was worried about Kaede. They reached Kikyō's destroyed gravesite. Kagome asks Kaede what is this. Kaede tells Kagome that this used to be her older sister Kikyō's gravesite. Kagome questions that it was a grave. Kaede tells them that she wasn't strong enough to stop Urasue and Kikyō had unusually strong powers even for a priestess and if her ashes get into the hands of some demon who knows for what evil purpose they will be used. Inuyasha turns away. Kaede calls out to Inuyasha. Inuyasha tells to Kaede to forget it as he and Kikyō were enemies and asks has she forgotten who shot an arrow into his chest. Kaede tells Inuyasha he's right. Inuyasha continues to walk away. Kagome thinks to herself that she heard it happened 50 years ago but to Inuyasha his memories are fresh. The flashback shows the event where Inuyasha stealing the jewel and Kikyō pinned him to the sacred tree. Kagome thinks to herself that Inuyasha the hanyo wanted to take the Sacred Jewel and become a full-fledged demon and when he came to the village to take the Sacred Jewel the priestess Kikyō shot a sacred arrow which held him to the Sacred Tree but in that battle Kikyō would lose her life.
Inuyasha is then sitting by a tree thinking of not the only the scent of Kikyō's ashes but also graveyard soil that Urasue took and wonders what is she up to. Kagome goes to Inuyasha and tells him they have to go. Inuyasha asks Kagome where as he looks away. Kagome sits next to Inuyasha and asks him doesn't he feel sorry for Kikyō that her grave has been violated and forget that they were once bitter enemies and Kikyō died long ago. Inuyasha looks at Kagome for a moment before looking away again. Kagome becomes annoyed and grabs Inuyasha's hair to make him turn to her. Inuyasha questions Kagome, who demands to know why since yesterday he's been avoiding looking at her. Inuyasha looks at Kagome for a moment before looking away again and says it's nothing. Kagome then believes that its because she looks like Kikyō and the reason he doesn't like her. Inuyasha looks at Kagome and grabs her hand that was grabbing his hair and insists it's not like that with a glimpsed look on his face and attempts to lean in to kiss her. Kagome becomes shocked and thinks to herself what is Inuyasha doing and asks what is it before she shoves him away. Kagome thinks to herself what was that just now and finds it hard to believe Inuyasha tried to kiss her. Inuyasha climbs back up and angrily asks Kagome what was she doing. Kagome tells Inuyasha that he was the one. Inuyasha asks Kagome what did he do. Inuyasha and Kagome look to see Kaede coming towards them with a horse. Kaede says she's also a priestess and will take back her older sister Kikyō's ashes with her own hands and asks Inuyasha at least tell her in which direction Urasue is headed. Inuyasha asks Kaede does she wants to die. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha. Kaede says she will have to go find out. Kagome tells Kaede she mustn't as she's in no condition. Inuyasha tells Kagome it's useless to stop Kaede and that's why he hates dealing with old people before watching him walk away and the robe on the horse then says he'll get Kikyō's ashes back and he'll be sure to bring home her bones too and walks away with the horse. Kaede tells Inuyasha thank you. Kagome asks Kaede if she can come along and runs after Inuyasha. Kaede calls out to Kagome, who thinks to herself that Inuyasha's eyes just now and he wasn't seeing her. Inuyasha leads the directions of the scent of the ashes. Kagome thinks to herself Inuyasha was seeing Kikyō inside her.
That night Kagome lets Kaede sleep in her sleeping bag. Kagome tells Inuyasha that Kaede is asleep. Inuyasha tells Kagome she'd better get some sleep and they'll attack tomorrow. Kagome asks Inuyasha so soon. Inuyasha says to Kagome he can smell it and Urasue isn't far before falls asleep. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha but he doesn't respond and realizes he's asleep. Kagome thinks to herself when she saw Inuyasha he was sleeping as well but actually he was bound to the Sacred Tree but to her he looked like he was sleeping peacefully and thought he hated Kikyō. Think back to when Inuyasha nearly kissed her, Kagome realizes that the look on his face to her weren't the eyes of hatred and her heart is still pounding. Kagome wonders if Inuyasha was actually in love with Kikyō. The following morning Kaede tells them they must retrieve Kikyō's ashes as soon as possible and she has a dreadful feeling about this. Inuyasha tells Kaede that it's too late now and if she didn't want the ashes stolen why didn't she just scatter the ashes into the river and she stayed sentimental and kept hanging on to them and see what happened. Kaede asks Inuyasha how does he feel about a grave and a grave isn't simply a place to bury a body or ashes as it necessary for the hearts of ones who are left behind. Inuyasha questions about Kaede about this. Kaede says to Inuyasha that Kikyō was born a priestess and she used her special powers for the good of the villagers and kept demons away from the village and battled illness and famine countless times encouraging the people around and even after her demise the villagers haven't weakened they are resolved to live, however, man is weak, danger and uncertainty can weaken his heart and the grave was a place of reassurance and a place where hearts could find peace. Kagome thinks to herself just like that time Inuyasha is thinking of Kikyō and he was in love with her but she shot an arrow into him and he was bound for 50 years and she feels really sorry for him. Inuyasha turns around and becomes confused to see Kagome looking at him. Kagome thinks to herself that it was unrequited love. Inuyasha starts to become more confused. Kagome thinks to herself Kikyō didn't love Inuyasha in return as her eyes filled with tears. Inuyasha asks Kagome what's wrong with her before he jumps off Kaede's horse and onto Kagome's basket and says that look gives him the creeps and wonders why was she looking so sorry for him. Kagome tells Inuyasha she's sorry as she was thinking nonsense. Inuyasha asks Kagome what was it. Kagome doesn't answer the questions as she becomes nervous. Inuyasha demands Kagome to tell him what was it. Kagome rides her bike quickly as Inuyasha sits from behind. Inuyasha asks Kagome what was she thinking. Kagome tells Inuyasha to shut his mouth.
In the forest, Inuyasha and the group find tombs all around them. Kagome asks what are those. Shippō suspects they're earthen dolls and calls them creepy. Inuyasha says they've found Urasue's hideout. Kagome becomes disappointed when she realized they have to cross a bridge. As they are crossing the bridge, Kagome is so scared to cross over. Inuyasha tells Kagome she doesn't have to come and he'll go in and talk some sense into Urasue. Kagome tells Inuyasha to not be silly as she refused to be left behind on a bridge like this. Inuyasha says to Kagome to come and walks forward. Kagome tells Inuyasha to wait. Shippō is almost crossing the bridge when on the other side clay soldiers come out of the tombs from back on the ground before started to crack and become clay soldiers then started moving forward. Shippō asks what is that. Inuyasha says they're soldiers of Urasue. Kagome realizes those are the clay soldiers they saw and couldn't believe it. Everyone looked back to see clay soldiers coming from behind. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha and says behind him. Inuyasha tells Kaede and Kagome that the bridge is going to shake a bit before he moves forward and destroys the clay soldiers with Iron Reaver Soul Stealer then realizes they were made of mud. Shippō uses Foxfire on the clay soldiers before Kaede starts destroying them with her bow. Inuyasha continues to use Iron Reaver Soul Stealer and says they're not that strong but just that they're so many of them.
Urasue hears the noise outside and wonders what's the ruckus outside and couldn't stand this and will go out and work off this frustration before she steps forward then grabs hold of the herb from the half-revived Kikyō's hand, but Kikyō won't let go of it. Urasue tells Kikyō to let go as the herb belongs to her. Kikyō turns her head to the noise outside and raises herself. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha and says to watch out.
Urasue questions what does this mean and could it before she goes outside and sees Kagome on the bridge and realizes from the close resemblance she is Kikyō's reincarnation and it's a coincidence but a good fortune as with that face there's no mistake. Inuyasha continues to use Iron Reaver Soul Stealer then sees Urasue, who uses her scythe to cut the bridge causing everyone to fall. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha. Urasue grabs Kagome and flies away.
Return of the Tragic Priestess, Kikyo
Inuyasha appears out from under the leaf and tells Shippō and Kaede to get off of him. Shippō and Kaede notice Inuyasha before Shippō untransform the leaf on Inuyasha as they stood up. Some of the clay soldiers survived the fall as they appear out of the rumble. Inuyasha questions the clay soldiers if they haven't had enough before he easily defeats them with his Tessaiga. Shippō tells Inuyasha that Urasue has kidnapped Kagome. Inuyasha realizes that Kagome wasn't thrown to the ground and killed.
Kagome says she feels awful and she can't move. As Urasue is putting her jar away, she becomes surprised that is still awake as the the herbs should have caused Kagome to lose consciousness by now. The shards of the Shikon Jewel started to glow around Kagome's neck. Urasue then realizes that Kagome has a fragment of the Sacred Jewel and becomes fortunate and walks towards her to retrieve it. As Urasue gets close, the light bursts becomes a large barrier. Urasue suspects is this the power of the Sacred Jewel and realizes that the soul is very angry as Kikyō's soul is mad with anger. Kagome says she feels sick and going to going to throw up. Urasue says it is a powerful grudge and suspects something tremendous must surely have happened to Kikyō in her previous life. Kikyō is sitting and notices Inuyasha and Kaede coming towards them. Inuyasha and Kaede immediately notice Kikyō sitting down. Kaede calls out to Kikyō. Kagome weakly calls out to Inuyasha. Urasue becomes surprised that Inuyasha, Shippō, and Kaede survived the fall. Inuyasha continues to look at Kikyō in shock. Kikyō doesn't want her name to be called. Inuyasha says that she's Kikyō.
With that one action the soul explodes and Kagome can no longer resist the herbal potion. Urasue says the soul is leaving Kagome's body. Inuyasha calls out to Kagome. Urasue says to Inuyasha the second he said Kikyō's name, Kagome's heart skipped a beat and Kikyō's soul sprang forth. The soul begins to enter Kikyō's body as she is in the air. As the resurrection was completed, Kikyō descends from the air in a bright light and when she reaches the ground she touches her face. Inuyasha says Kagome's soul has entered Kikyō's body. Shippō goes to Kagome's body and begs her to wake up. Urasue says Kagome is an empty shell now and she'll pickle her later for her dinner.
Mystical Hand of the Amorous Monk, Miroku
The episode begins with Kagome getting a drink of water, and Shippō asks her if she's sure she is alright, after the events that took place prior involving Urasue. Kagome says she is fine, but Inuyasha, on the other hand, has been acting strange ever since the encounter with Kikyō. Inuyasha is away from the others pondering his quest for the Shikon no Tama; once he finally obtains the jewel and becomes a full-fledged demon, then what? He wonders if he will ever be able to truly forget Kikyō.
The monk is startled and tries to hide when Kagome warns Inuyasha to not look at her. Inuyasha replies that he has no interest in doing so. Shippō undresses and teases Inuyasha for not bathing together with Kagome. Something startles Kagome and she screams, causing Inuyasha to come rushing to her aid. Revealing what startled her was a monkey pulling her hair, she hits him on the head with a boulder because she thought he was peeping. The monk covertly gets dresses behind a nearby tree, noting that Kagome has a man with her; the monk breathes heavily stating that he hates resorting to violence. Soon after, the monk is seen talking to a tanuki, apparently putting some sort of plan into place.
The next day, Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippō argue about the night before as they walk near a cliff by a mountain. The monk and raccoon dog are seen talking near them, and the raccoon dog is to take out Inuyasha, while the monk makes off with the girl; the raccoon dog asks the monk why he doesn't use his right hand to get the jewel in a matter of moments, but the monk replies that everyone would die if he did that. The raccoon dog transforms into some sort of boulder-like creature, and comes crashing down the side of the mountain into Inuyasha, with Shippō falling as well. The monk then grabs Kagome and begins riding her bicycle, kidnapping her. Inuyasha sees that she has been taken, wondering who the guy is, and punches the boulder; he then draws Tessaiga and prepares to attack again, but the raccoon dog reverts to his original form and begs for forgiveness. Kagome gets off the bicycle and rushes over to Inuyasha, and the monk lets her go, since he already has her shard of the Shikon Jewel; he then rides off on the bike. Inuyasha and Kagome discuss the strange power that the monk utilized, somehow using wind to pull it in towards him; they soon realize that the monk took the jewel shard.
Inuyasha and the others begin searching for the monk, with Inuyasha sniffing the ground to pick up his scent; the villagers take note of this strange behavior. They are surprised to quickly find her bicycle outside of a hut in a nearby village. Inuyasha bursts inside, to find the monk already with more women by his side, though he doesn't find them attractive. When the monk sees Kagome he comes straight over to her, grabbing her hands, which angers Inuyasha. Inuyasha begins chasing the monk to regain the jewel shard. Inuyasha then draws Tessaiga, but the monk blocks it with his staff; Inuyasha notes that this is no ordinary human. The monk introduces himself as Miroku, and states that he is indeed a monk. They continue their battle, with the monk blocking each of Inuyasha's blows. The monk begins to lose his footing on a pile of logs, and Inuyasha is able to knock the staff out of Miroku's hands; he points Tessaiga at the monk, telling him to return the shard or die. To Inuyasha's surprise, the monk leaps back up to his feet and begins running away, telling the villagers to get away as fast as possible.
After running for a short period, Miroku stops and turns his attention back to Inuyasha. Inuyasha wonders what the monk is doing, as he holds out his right hand. Miroku then removes the prayer beads from his hand, and a massive wind starts blowing around the area as he yells "Wind Tunnel!" then everything surrounding them begins getting pulled in by a strong wind, Inuyasha is forced to brace himself with Tessaiga. Inuyasha says that this is the same power he used before, and wonders where the wind is coming from; he then notices that Miroku's right hand is actually causing all of the wind. Kagome notes that his hand is almost like a black hole, sucking everything in that isn't nailed down. Kagome then remembers how Miroku had earlier yelled for the people of the village to escape from the area, and she surmises that he does not want to hurt humans. As Inuyasha inches closer and closer to being sucked in, Kagome comes flying passed him and when the monk sees her coming he closes the Wind Tunnel, just before Kagome crashes into him.
Kagome notes that the monk actually closed the Wind Tunnel on his own, so he might not be all that bad. Inuyasha rushes over to her and scolds her for almost getting herself killed; Kagome responds that they should at least give him a chance, as he could have killed them long ago with a power like his. As she has this thought, Miroku begins massaging her butt; embarrassed, she moves away to Inuyasha and retracts her previous statement, telling Inuyasha to kill him.
After they all calm down, Miroku begins telling the group about the history of his cursed hand; he tells them that a wicked demon named Naraku had cursed his grandfather with the Wind Tunnel years ago; he says that Naraku and his grandfather battled many times over the years, and each time Naraku appeared to him it was in the form of a different human. Naraku's curse would be passed down to each generation until no one in the family remained. Miroku says that each year the wind in his hand gets more powerful, and the hole continues to grow; unless he kills Naraku, the Wind Tunnel will eventually suck him up as well.
Miroku continues telling the others about Naraku, saying that he is sure that Naraku has begun gathering shards of the Shikon Jewel to increase his already malicious power. Miroku states that Naraku was nearly successful in obtaining the Shikon Jewel 50 years ago, when he slew the priestess who had been protecting the jewel. This bit of information catches Inuyasha's attention, who immediately speculates that Naraku was the demon who disguised himself as Inuyasha and killed Kikyō all those years ago. Inuyasha notes that Naraku had laid a trap for Kikyō and himself, making them believe that they had deceived each other. Inuyasha vows to get revenge on Naraku.
Kagome says that if they continue searching for the jewel shards, they'll surely encounter Naraku sooner or later; she says that Miroku should travel with them, but Miroku says that he's more accustomed to being on his own. As Kagome expresses concern over Miroku's fate, Miroku grabs her hands and plainly asks that she bear him a son, so that he might carry out revenge on Naraku should Miroku be unable to; as he says this he holds Kagome close. Inuyasha barges in and separates the two, telling Miroku to never think about touching Kagome again. Miroku then states that Inuyasha must be in love with Kagome. Blushing, Inuyasha says that she is merely a "jewel detector", angering Kagome.
The Cursed Ink of the Hell-Painter
The episode starts in the feudal era with a man with scrolls running through a field being chased by men with swords and horses. The man apparently has a jewel fragment and the other men are trying to take it from him. Soon after, an army of demons appear, seemingly out of nowhere, and slaughter the men.
The next day, Inuyasha, Miroku, Kagome, and Shippō come across the battlefield from the night before, and Shippō states that he's never seen this many bodies. Miroku surmises that this must be the work of a demon, and it possibly has a shard of the Shikon no Tama. Inuyasha then rudely says that he has no intention of teaming up with Miroku or of sharing any jewel shards with him; Miroku decides to leave the group afterwards.
Inuyasha is next seen sniffing a man's scroll, frightening him, noting that it's the same scent from the battlefield, thinking that if he can track down the scent, finding the demon will be much easier; Inuyasha is intent on finding the jewel shard before Miroku. Kagome asks what Inuyasha has against Miroku, and Inuyasha asks if Kagome actually likes him, which she replies that she does. Inuyasha then mutters to himself that he can't believe that she actually likes Miroku.
The lord then thanks Miroku for saving his daughter, and asks forgiveness for his men's earlier rudeness. Miroku says that the danger has surely not passed, and says that he should stay with the princess, and sleep in the same bed. As he says this, Inuyasha and the others appear, asking about the ink demons. They discuss the ink demons, and the fact that they are being controlled by a human, not a demon, and Miroku surmises that the human must be using a Shikon Jewel shard. As Kagome and Miroku talk, Inuyasha sits away from them with his back turned, not wanting to talk to Miroku. Kagome then notes that Miroku actually has three shards of his own, and he is surprised to learn that she has the power to see the shards.
The lord's men are eavesdropping on their conversation, and rush to the lord to tell him that the artist was manipulating the demons, and that the monk has a shard of the Shikon Jewel as well. Later that night, when Miroku is sleeping, the men attempt to stab him, but he was prepared and quickly incapacitates them.
Inuyasha and the others then rush off to find the artist. Before they get there, the lord has an army attack him, and he prepares to unleash his demon army. Demons come streaming out of his hut and attack the men, easily defeating them; many of the survivors attempt to flee. Inuyasha arrives and slays some of them, saving the lord. Inuyasha is again overcome by the smell of ink and blood and is momentarily dazed. As another demon attacks them, Miroku destroys it and prepares to protect them from the hoard of demons still alive. He tells them to get behind him, and begins sucking up the demons in his Wind Tunnel. After sucking in most of them, Miroku grimaces and falls to his knees and says that he's never sucked in that many demons before.
Kōtatsu then bursts out of his home on a three headed serpent-like demon, and Inuyasha asks Kagome where his shard of the jewel is; she says it's in his ink pot. As Inuyasha jumps on the demon as well, Kōtatsu uses another scroll and more demons come forth. Inuyasha fights off the demons and demands that the artist give him the shard. The demon breathes fire on Inuyasha, but the Robe of the Fire-Rat protects him from the flames. Inuyasha then slices the ink pot in half, and the giant demon disappears. Kōtatsu then grabs a nearby sword, and stabs himself in the forearm, telling the ink to drink his blood and come to life. As the ink surrounds him, he thinks his plan is working, but then he begins to fade away and realizes that the ink did not fuse with his blood, but devour it; the man then fades away into nothing but a puddle of ink.
Kagome picks up the tainted shard from the puddle of ink, and it is purified, much to Miroku's surprise. Afterwards Miroku agrees to join them in their journey, stating that Inuyasha isn't such a bad fellow; Kagome agrees.
Naraku and Sesshomaru Join Forces
Meanwhile, Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippō are eating at a tavern while Miroku is performing an exorcism. Inuyasha confronts Miroku about his powers saying that whenever they are looking for a place to stay, Miroku mysteriously detects an ominous cloud over the finest tavern in the area. Miroku admits that there never was a black cloud. Although Shippō is surprised, Kagome thinks to herself that she was beginning to suspect that, too. Miroku offers Inuyasha a plate of dumplings as a peace offering which Shippō takes. Kagome tells everyone to settle down as the ground beings to shake.
Inuyasha says that whatever is coming, it is big. Kagome senses that a jewel shard is fast approaching. Inuyasha comments on how the jewels don’t usually come to them. Miroku and Inuyasha race after the jewel shard. The gigantic demon ogre appears with Sesshōmaru and Jaken riding on its shoulder. Sesshōmaru says that he is there for the Tessaiga. Miroku asks if Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru know one another to which Kagome replies that they are brothers. Kagome thinks to herself that Sesshōmaru couldn’t wield Tessaiga last time and wonders what could have changed.
Inuyasha attempts to attack Sesshōmaru with Tessaiga. He avoids the attacks easily and comments on how Inuyasha has yet to release the full power of Tessaiga. On the next strike, Sesshōmaru grabs Inuyasha’s wrist. As the poison from Sesshōmaru’s nails burns Inuyasha’s flesh, Sesshōmaru asks which will be the first to drop, Inuyasha’s wrist or the sword. Inuyasha comments that it won’t be the sword as he briefly overpowers him.
However, Sesshōmaru manages to knock the Tessaiga out of Inuyasha’s hands. To Inuyasha and Kagome’s surprise, Sesshōmaru is able to grasp the sword with his left hand. Jaken summons all the demons from the mountain, and Sesshōmaru demonstrates the true ability of Tessaiga, the ability to slaughter 100 demons with a single stroke.
When Kagome starts to run toward Inuyasha, Miroku tells her to wait. He steps in front of Inuyasha and says that he must put an end to “this foolish sibling rivalry.” As Inuyasha and Miroku argue, Jaken wonders if this is the monk that Naraku claimed could be more troublesome than Inuyasha. Unconvinced that he is a worthy opponent, Jaken asks Sesshōmaru if he can finish the monk off. When he goes to attack, Miroku unleashes the wind tunnel, partially absorbing Sesshomaru's ogre. Kagome exclaims that Miroku is the best. Then she turns to Inuyasha as an afterthought and says that he was good, too. Inuyasha sarcastically says that he could tell that was from the heart.
Sesshōmaru recalls how Naruku gave him the nest of the Saimyōshō to plug up the hole in the monk’s right hand. He releases these poisonous wasps from hell, and they fly toward Miroku’s hand. Miroku closes up his hand and tells Inuyasha that he will have to take over. Inuyasha uses Sankon Tessō to attack the wasps. Miroku tells Kagome that the insects have poisoned him with their venom. She tells him not to move as she runs off to get an antidote. As Inuyasha grabs Miroku to escape, Inuyasha says the Miroku is going to owe him big time. Then it occurs to him that Miroku could be in serious trouble.
As Sesshōmaru approaches, Inuyasha realizes that they are trapped and can be done in with a single strike of the Tessaiga. Sesshōmaru tells them that this is the end as he sends another attack towards them. They manage to survive by hiding behind the fallen gigantic demon ogre. Sesshōmaru tells them to run and hide while they can because it is the only choice left for them. On the other hand, he says that Inuyasha would at least die with honor if he stands up and faces his death.
Unimpressed, Inuyasha replies that if Sesshōmaru intends to kill someone, he better do it right the first time because they tend to have a nasty way of coming back to make you regret it. Inuyasha goes to attack Sesshōmaru. When Sesshōmaru goes to strike back, Inuyasha blocks the attack with the sheath of Tessaiga.
Jaken emerges from the rubble contemplating that Sesshōmaru's disregard for ally or foe during battle may be more worrisome than his actual power. To Jaken's surprise, Miroku grabs him by the head and asks if he can explain how they knew to use the insects when they have never met before. Shippō tells Miroku to watch out as Jaken attacks them with fire from the Staff of Two Heads. Despite Shippō's best efforts, Jaken counters his attacks. Miroku tells him to save himself to which Shippō responds that he is staying.
After Sesshōmaru knocks the sheath out of Inuyasha's hands, he says that in one strike it will be over. Before he can unleash his attack, an arrow strikes Tessaiga and reverses its transformation. It is Kagome standing poised to shoot another arrow. Kagome commands Sesshōmaru to drop the sword otherwise the next arrow will strike his heart. Inuyasha calls out to her, but she tells him to stay back. Miroku thinks to himself that it must be true that Kagome is the reincarnation of the priestess.
Go Home To Your Own Time, Kagome!
Inuyasha takes back Tessaiga and begins to fear for Kagome's safety. He forces her back to her own era, taking her jewel shards and blocking the Bone-Eater's Well to ensure that she doesn't return.
Despicable Villain! The Mystery of Onigumo!
Kaede reveals to Inuyasha and Miroku that in a nearby cave, she and Kikyō once cared for a badly burnt thief, who ended up lusting for Kikyō and allowed his body to be consumed by yōkai from his desire for her and ended up creating Naraku.
Naraku's True Identity Unveiled
Inuyasha and Naraku meet face to face; Naraku reveals to Inuyasha that he was born from Onigumo and was the one who indeed turned Kikyō and Inuyasha against one another 50 years ago, in the hopes of gaining the Shikon no Tama, defiling it in the process.
A Wicked Smile; Kikyo's Wandering Soul
Kikyō, who survived her encounter with Inuyasha, lives peacefully in a village, but must steal the souls of the dying to maintain her presence in the world, which alarms one of the village girls when a monk named Seikai is killed by the shrine maiden when he tries to save her soul. Meanwhile, Inuyasha, Kagome, and their friends investigate girls losing their souls, which inevitably leads them to Kikyō.

Inuyasha: Since Then
Ogigayatsu Hiiragi tells Towa to answer. Towa tells Ogigayatsu Hiiragi that he should take her advice and let her go as things won't be so hot when her friends get here. 'Sokyu' laughs and tells Towa it's such nonsense and there's something he would like for her to see. 'Sokyu' signals for one of the retainers to bring the item in. At that moment, a subordinate of the shogunate adviser brings in a box and places it down before he leaves. Towa becomes surprised and questions is that a bike seat. Ogigayatsu Hiiragi says that she recognizes what it is. 'Sokyu' confirms this with Ogigayatsu Hiiragi as it seems Towa knows something. Towa asks Ogigayatsu Hiiragi and 'Sokyu' what's a bike seat doing here. 'Sokyu' tells Towa that the bike seat was found when a clam fisher was raking the river and it was then presented to him and Ogigayatsu Hiiragi and there used to be rumors in the Musashi Province of a priestess who came through the Bone-Eater's Well from a place called 'Tokyo'. Towa becomes surprised about 'Tokyo', the Bone-Eater's Well, and priestess. 'Sokyo' tells Towa that the bike seat was the saddle she used to ride her mysterious iron wagon as she and a hanyō named Inuyasha traveled the land slaying demons and what he's about to share is a tale that he heard over a decade ago.
The story begins with Inuyasha pulling Kagome out of the Bone-Eater's Well. Kagome explains it's been nearly 6 months since she's made the decision to live with Inuyasha in the Feudal Era and the days have been so peaceful as if the time they spent fighting for the Sacred Jewel was all a dream.
In Miroku and Sango's hut, Kin'u and Gyokuto are playing with Shippō, who isn't enjoying it. Shippō tells Kin'u and Gyokuto to stop it. Rin is making rope while Sango holds Hisui. Kagome wonders what Inuyasha and Miroku are talking about with Kaede. Sango tells Kagome that as soon as Inuyasha and Miroku came back they went straight to Kaede. Kagome becomes interested. Shippō says Inuyasha and Miroku are obviously discussing things they don't want overheard. Rin says she was told to stay here in Sango's house. Kagome asks Rin her too. Everyone hears a noise. Rin wonders if it's Inuyasha and Miroku. Kagome sensed a yōkai and tells everyone to get back. Sango calls out to Kagome. Root Head breaks into the hut and mistakes Kagome for Kikyō as it demanded the Sacred Jewel. Kagome becomes surprised. Root Head demands Kagome to give it the Sacred Jewel. Kagome realizes she couldn't reach her archery set in time. Shippō asks Kagome what Root Head was. Root Head demands Kagome to give it the Sacred Jewel as it lunges at her. Sango calls out to Kagome, who lowers her head, before she uses her Hiraikotsu to push it back. Sango tells Shippō to take care of Kin, Gyokuto, and Hisui as she goes outside with Kagome. Shippō agrees. Sango and Kagome look to see Root Head on the ground. Inuyasha and Miroku arrive. Miroku calls out to Sango while Inuyasha calls out to Kagome. Root Head goes underground. Inuyasha tells Root Head he won't let him get away this time before he tried hit it with his Tessaiga, but it escaped underground again. Miroku questions that Root Head has made it this far. Sango confirms it. Inuyasha asks Kagome was she okay. Kagome tells Inuyasha 'yes' and Root Head called her 'Kikyō'.
Inuyasha asks Kagome what. 'Kagome' asks Inuyasha what was he hiding from her. Inuyasha nervously tells 'Kagome' he wasn't trying to. Inuyasha realizes that he wasn't talking to Kagome but to Shippo when he saw her standing next to him before he hits him, annoyed. Miroku tells Inuyasha that Kagome is being targeted and he thinks they'd best tell her. Kagome asks Miroku to tell her what. Sango says Root Head told them to hand over the Sacred Jewel. Shippō says even though the Sacred Jewel's already been destroyed. Miroku says since Root Head had been sealed away by Kikyō's arrow it didn't know about the Sacred Jewel's demise as the demon is called Root Head and its roots burrow underground and absorbs nutrients from humans. Kagome questions it's not just her and wonders if the local villagers are in danger. Miroku tells Kagome that's correct and they must eradicate Root Head from all 6 villages surrounding the Sacred Tree. Kagome tells Inuyasha let's go. Inuyasha nervously agrees. Inuyasha leaves with Kagome on his back. Inuyasha wonders why Kagome's not mad at him. Kagome thinks to herself that Inuyasha didn't need to hide it. Root Head appears from the ground. Inuyasha tells Root Head that's where he was and tells Kagome that Root Head's pretty big. Kagome tells Inuyasha she knows and leave it to her as she shoots an arrow at Root Head, damaging it. Inuyasha takes out Tessaiga and uses the Wind Scar on Root Head as he strikes it.
Kagome uses her arrow on Root Head but more roots appear. Inuyasha uses his Tessaiga. Root Head appeared again. Inuyasha becomes annoyed as he says there's no end to this. Kagome asks Inuyasha has there been a battle here before. Inuyasha confirms it as neighboring provinces had a skirmish here so Root Head had plenty of food. Kagome realizes the roots burrow underground and wonders where are they coming from. Inuyasha tells Kagome let's go. Inuyasha uses his Tessaiga on Root Head again. Kagome tells Inuyasha to let her down. Inuyasha asks Kagome what and to not be ridiculous as she's the target. Kagome tells Inuyasha that's exactly why as all the roots here must lead to Root Head's main body and she'll become a decoy. Inuyasha tells Kagome like he'd let her throw herself into danger like that before he continues to strike Root Head. Kagome tells Inuyasha she bet he'd say 'yes' if this were Kikyō. Inuyasha becomes nervous. Kagome tells Inuyasha that she knew it. Inuyasha and Kagome suddenly saw a flash of moving forward. Kagome questions the light. Inuyasha says no way. Inuyasha and Kagome realizes that it's Kikyō's arrow. Inuyasha thinks of Kikyō. Kaede shot the arrow that Kikyō used to seal Root Head. Shippō asks Kaede that she shot the arrow. Kaede thinks to herself that she just shot the very same arrow Kikyō had used to seal Root Head as that should draw it out as it will definitely respond. Kikyō's arrow lands on the ground before Root Head starts appearing. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha as she points to where Root Head is appearing. Inuyasha agrees as he goes towards Root Head's location.
Root Head starts moving away. Kagome says Root Head's getting away before she jumps off Inuyasha's back. Inuyasha calls out to Kagome as he tries to reach for her. Kagome thinks to herself that she won't let Root Head escape. Kagome lands on the ground and goes towards the arrow. When Kagome arrived to the arrow's location, Root Head tried to devour her as it emerged from underground. Inuyasha calls out to Kagome before he went to save her. Inuyasha asks Kagome if she was okay. Kagome tells Inuyasha yes. Sango asks Miroku what's that. Miroku tells Sango it must be Root Head's main body. Inuyasha says Root Head's shown itself. Root Head says Kikyō's name and tells Kagome it'll eat her whole, Sacred Jewel, and all. Kagome tells Root Head that her name is Kagome was not Kikyō and the Shikon no Tama no longer existed. Inuyasha tells Root Head other thing is that the Sacred Jewel no longer exist in this world as he calls it an 'idiot'. Inuyasha uses his Wind Scar while Kagome shoots her Sacred Arrow at Root Head.
In the end, with the head wounded by Kagome's Sacred Arrow, it was eliminated by Inuyasha's Wind Scar, damaging it. Inuyasha says he'll finish Root Head off before he uses his Meidō Zangetsuha, sucking it in. Inuyasha calls out to Kagome. Kagome tells Inuyasha she's got this before she shoots her Sacred Arrow at the remains of Root Head, purifying it. At morning, Shippō and Kaede are looking over at the village. Shippō happily says Inuyasha and Kagome did it as the land is being purified. Kaede confirms it and thinks Kagome will be fine even without borrowing Kikyō's powers. Inuyasha lands on the ground before Kagome gets off his back. Miroku and Sango appear on Kirara. Inuyasha sighs in relief then becomes annoyed at Kagome. Kagome asks Inuyasha what is it. Inuyasha tells Kagome she almost got eaten by Root Head. Kagome tells Inuyasha 'yes' but she also knew he'd save her. Inuyasha tells Kagome of course he'd save her as he calls her an 'idiot'. Kagome tells Inuyasha she trust him as he didn't have to hide the whole Kikyō thing from her either. Inuyasha walks away. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha. Inuyasha stops asks Kagome if she's upset at all. Kagome tells Inuyasha she's not upset at all as it's just before she says 'Sit'. Inuyasha falls to the ground. Kagome tells Inuyasha to have a bit more faith in her. Miroku tells Sango this is somewhat nostalgic. Sango tells Miroku to let's go home as the kids are waiting. Inuyasha and Kagome sit together in the field. Kagome explains fate brought her and Inuyasha together to trust and care for each other allowing them to overcome their own destiny as all she has left to do is to spend these days with Inuyasha by her side. A tiny piece of Root Head grows rapidly inside the Sacred Tree.
The Dream Butterfly
Towa becomes shocked. Setsuna asks Towa who was she. Mistress Three-Eyes's body disappears, leaving only her skeleton. Towa asks Setsuna doesn't she remember her as it's her and she used to call her 'Sis'. Moroha approaches Towa and Setsuna as she says that was horrible but was happy she can finally move her body. Setsuna and Moroha recover their gold and red Rainbow Pearls. Towa wonders what are they before her silver Rainbow Pearl glows with the others. Grandpa Higurashi says this kind of nostalgic. The Dream Gazing Trap
In Takehiyo's mind, Sesshōmaru and Kirinamru arrive at the village. Takechiyo wonders where is this. Kagome holds a baby Moroha close to her as she tells her that she's such a good child. Inuyasha calls to Kagome as he tells her that Kirinmaru and Sesshōmaru are here. Kagome nods as she tells Inuyasha 'okay'. Inuyasha pulls out his Tessaiga out. Kirinmaru and Sesshōmaru approach up the village stairs. Kagome gives Moroha the Beni of Izayoi as she tells her that it is a keepsake from Inuyasha's mother as she sheds a tear and tells Moroha that she and Inuyasha decided that if they had a girl that they would give this to her. Kagome kisses Moroha's forehead. Moroha looks at the Beni. Kagome gives Moroha to Hachiemon and tells him to take care of her. Hachiemon leaves off with Moroha. Farewell Under the Lunar Eclipse
At Inuyasha and Kagome's house, Hōsenki II sits in a large shell and greets Inuyasha and Kagome. Hōsenki II tells Inuyasha to rejoice as the Black Pearl is complete and it's ready 96 years earlier than scheduled too. Inuyasha looks uninterested as he picks his ear. Hōsenki II tells Inuyasha that he heard a rumor and wonders if it is true that he inherited his father's special technique the Adamant Barrage. Inuyasha confirms this to Hōsenki II. Hōsenki II asks Inuyasha if he could demonstrate the Adamant Barrage for him just this once and if he shows him then he shall hand him the Black Pearl that he so desires. Inuyasha tells Hōsenki II that if he wants to see the Adamant Barrage then he'll show him and he draws out his Tessaiga as he says he owes it to the previous Hōsenki after all. Hōsenki II repeatedly thanks Inuyasha. Kagome tells Inuyasha to wait a second. Inuyasha uses the Adamant Barrage but causes damage on his and Kagome’s house while doing so. Kagome yells at Inuyasha and gives him the “Sit” command. Inuyasha falls to the ground. Kagome tells Inuyasha that she didn't think he'd do it here and wonders what was he thinking. Later Hōsenki II, Inuyasha, and Kagome sit inside the now half-broken home. Hōsenki II tells Inuyasha that he heard that the Black Pearl were originally the tears from the Great Dog Demon's wife, Izayoi as he gives Inuyasha the Black Pearl. Inuyasha questions about his mother's tears. Hōsenki II tells Inuyasha when Tōga passed away Izayoi's tears were turned into a jewel and the Tessaiga and the path to his grave were sealed inside it and it was placed within Inuyasha's right eye.
Kagome asks Hōsenki II what is the compacted shell she is holding. Hōsenki II tells Kagome that it is the rouge that Izayoi used in order for himself to create the Black Pearl as they needed some of Izayoi’s deep sadness. Inuyasha tells Hōsenki II that he's surprised he found the rouge. Hōsenki II tells Inuyasha that it was no easy feat. A flashback of Inuyasha giving Kikyō his late mother Izayoi's Beni as a gift is seen. Kagome asks Hōsenki II if she and Inuyasha can have the Beni too along with the Black Pearl. Hōsenki II tells Kagome 'of course' as he has no use for the Beni now that the Black Pearl is complete. Kagome is happy and tells Inuyasha isn't it great as they now have two of Izayoi’s keepsakes. Inuyasha asks Kagome why the hell would he need the Beni and the Black Pearl anymore. Kagome asks Inuyasha what was he talking about and with the Black Pearl they can go pay their respects to Tōga’s grave and wonders why can't he be happier about it. Inuyasha tells Kagome that like he'd go to somewhere like that then places the Black Pearl into his right eye. Hōsenki II asks Inuyasha what has he done as concealing it in his right eye means he can’t extract the Black Pearl unless it’s an emergency. Inuyasha tells Hōsenki II that the Black Pearl was his mother's keepsake so he can do whatever he wants with it. Kagome tells Inuyasha that he always say such reckless things and the rouge is off-limits, keeping it close to her. Inuyasha turns his head as he doesn't care. Kagome thinks to herself that Inuyasha's so bad at showing how he truly feels.
Riku confirms this and tells Kagome that the Great Dog-Demon and Kirinmaru were 2 Beast King and joined forces and eradicated the Comet fragment 500 years ago. Kagome questions Riku that Tōga help destroy the Grim Comet and was amazed. Riku tells Kagome that 7 days from now the Grim Comet’s fragment will fall upon this Earth once again but the Great Dog-Demon is no longer and Kirinmaru himself has fallen into a long slumber. Kagome eagerly asks Riku will Inuyasha be able to serve in Tōga's place and how can they awaken Kirinmaru from his slumber. Riku tells Kagome that he doesn't recommend awakening Kirinmaru as he hates humans and cannot forgive the existence of hanyōs and he wouldn't just kill Inuyasha and he would also most likely kill the hanyō that Rin will give birth tonight and her child as well. Kagome holds her stomach as she questions that Kirinmaru will kill her unborn child. Kagome asks Riku can't they do anything and isn't there a way to destroy the Grim Comet’s fragment while keeping Kirinmaru asleep. Riku tells Kagome that there is one way as if the Great Dog-Demon’s son combine their strength. Kagome tells Riku that if there's anything she can do she'll do it. Riku asks Kagome to convince Sesshōmaru and Inuyasha. Kagome tells Riku 'okay' as she'll see what she can do.
Sesshōmaru and Jaken arrive at Sesshōmaru's mother's manor. Jaken says this palace belongs to Sesshomaru's mother and is realized that it doesn't look like she's here today. Inuyasha and Kagome arrive at Sesshōmaru mother’s manor. The sun sets and the evening sets in as the Comet fragment comes closer. Kagome says the Grim Comet is here. Everyone looks at the Grim Comet. Sesshōmaru flies towards the Grim Comet and and uses his Bakusaiga to split the Comet fragment into two, and an unknown Comet demon comes out of it. Inuyasha jumps into the sky. Sesshōmaru tells Inuyasha that the rest. Inuyasha tells Sesshōmaru to leave it to him before he pulls out his Tessaiga and uses the Meidō Zangetsuha as the demons were sucked in and they both completely disappear. Sesshōmaru lands on the palace floor. Jaken tells Sesshōmaru that was wonderfully done. Inuyasha lands and says that he's the one who cleaned it up. Kagome tells Inuyasha that he did well too. Jaken asks Inuyasha what was he saying as his Meidō Zangetsuha originally belonged to Sesshōmaru. Sesshōmaru calls to Jaken as he tells him that they're leaving. Jaken agrees. Sesshōmaru and Jaken leave the palace. Inuyasha tells Kagome 'let's go'. Kagome tells Inuyasha to wait for her.
At Kirinmaru's Ship, Kirinmaru is awakened by Zero. Kirinmaru asks Zero why has she awakened him as Tōga's sons must have taken care of the Grim Comet’s fragment as he grabbed his mask and placed it on his face. Zero tells Kirinmaru that Sesshōmaru has taken a human as a bride just like Tōga did. Kirinmaru becomes shocked as he asked Zero that Sesshōmaru did what. Zero tells Kirinmaru at this rate Sesshōmaru will be plunged into disaster and fall to ruin and asks was he going to let that happen and he has sired hanyō twin daughters. Kirinmaru becomes shocked again. Zero asks Kirinmaru does he remember as the Shikon Jewel is gone now but it still left them a prophecy and calls out to him as he will be felled by an existence that is neither human nor demon an impossible entity that can surpass time that will defeat him as he laughed it off saying no such thing can exist but thanks to Tōga that which should not exist has become reality. Kirinmaru becomes more interested. Zero tells Kirinmaru that is the hanyō as they are an existence that is neither demon nor human and a shihanyō daughter will soon be born between Kagome the girl who surpassed time to appear in this world and Inuyasha and if they can't erase these cursed hanyōs and abominable shihanyō. Kirinmaru becomes more interested. Zero tells Kirinmaru that just as the Shikon Jewel prophesized that he will meet his end.
Later at the village, Kagome holds a baby Moroha close to her as she tells her that she's such a good child. Inuyasha and Kagome watch as Hachiemon leaves with Moroha before Kirinmaru and Sesshōmaru arrived. Kagome tells Kirinmaru that she and Inuyasha will never hand over Moroha to him. Kirinmaru tells Kagome to quit her prattling and addressed her as “human” and runs to attack her and Inuyasha. Sesshōmaru runs ahead of Kirinmaru and begins to extract the Black Pearl from Inuyasha’s right eye. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha. Sesshōmaru completely extracts the Black Pearl from Inuyasha's right eye. Inuyasha falls to the ground as he clutches his right eye. Kagome goes to Inuyasha and asks if he was okay. Inuyasha tells Kagome 'yeah'. Sesshōmaru holds the Black Pearl up and both Inuyasha and Kagome are drawn in. Inuyasha repeatedly calls out to Kagome as they are sealed inside the Black Pearl. Kirinmaru asks Sesshōmaru if he helped Inuyasha and Kagome. Sesshōmaru asked Kirinmaru what was he talking about. Jaken tells Kirinmaru that there will come a time when Inuyasha’s Meidō Zangetsuha will be needed but until then he thinks they should should simply have Inuyasha and Kagome pay respects to Tōga’s grave. Kirinmaru tells Jaken that he suppose that’s fine. Kirinmaru, Sesshōmaru, and Jaken depart the area and Riku is shown secretly witnessing the whole thing. Riku is glad that the Black Pearl and Izayoi’s rouge were useful and smiles.

Evidence[]
- Throughout the course of their journey, Inuyasha and Kagome began to develop romantic feelings for each other and slowly began to fall in love, despite the numerous arguments and obstacles they faced.
- As a result of his feelings towards her, Inuyasha became fiercely protective of Kagome, saying that "the thought of losing two women is unbearable." He would rebuke himself if she got hurt.
- Inuyasha often competed with Kōga for Kagome's affections, though Kagome never showed any signs of attraction towards Kōga, kindly rejecting his feelings towards her.
- Inuyasha's love for Kagome was quite obvious amongst the group of friends and they immediately recognized his very strong and fierce protectiveness over her. Kagome, although flattered that Inuyasha was so jealous of Kōga, was often annoyed and hurt by his temper and insensitivity.
- Since Inuyasha held possessiveness towards Kagome, most enemies, including Naraku, used Kagome to gain an advantage over Inuyasha. Several times throughout the series, even when seriously wounded or near death, Inuyasha spontaneously regained physical strength beyond all odds in order to protect Kagome, much to the surprise of his friends. This led them to realize that the strength of his desire to protect Kagome brought on such spontaneous physical strength.
- At first, out of pride, Inuyasha vehemently denied that he loved Kagome over and over again, but over time he stopped trying to reject his feelings towards her. Despite constantly going to Kikyō's rescue when she was in danger, he gradually came to accept that he and Kikyō had no future together, and when they met in private it was only to speak of defeating Naraku (though Kagome had a very hard time believing this).
- Kagome and Inuyasha provided each other with strong emotional support following Kikyō's death, as both mourned her loss; this helped bring them closer. When they were both trapped in the Sacred Jewel together, Inuyasha realized that he and Kagome were born to be with each other. Inuyasha then used the Meidō Zangetsuha to find Kagome, and once he did, he came face to face with her, they embraced, and shared a long-awaited kiss (note: the kiss occurs in the anime only).
- Inuyasha lived a lonely life missing Kagome (Shippō stated that Inuyasha visited the well at least every three days) and spending much of his time alone.
- However, Kagome's strong and overwhelming desire to see Inuyasha again allowed her passage to the Feudal Era once more, and she and Inuyasha were reunited.
- Inuyasha and Kagome married immediately after her high school graduation, and Kagome moved to the Feudal Era to be with him for the rest of her life, vowing to become a priestess. Inuyasha and Kagome proceeded to live a happy life together where they were able to adapt to their new, permanent life together.
- They have a daughter named Moroha together.
Quotes[]
- "Sit boy!"―Kagome.[src]
- "I told you! My name's Kagome! Still... Kikyō, give me your strength."―Kagome to Inuyasha and herself about her identity[src]
- "Why'd I ever meet him? If I knew it was gonna hurt this much, I wish I'd never laid eyes on him. But I want to see him. I can't deny it. I want to see Inuyasha once more! It's clear now. I must be in love with him. Before I knew it, I'd grown to love him so much."―Kagome[src]
- "But there's another thing I've come to realize, Inuyasha. My meeting you was no coincidence. It's more than that. Deep down you must know that I want you to live. Inuyasha, may I ask you a simple question? Will you let me stay?"―Kagome[src]
- Kagome: "Inuyasha, tell me. Do you still want to become all-demon?" Inuyasha: "Yeah. Of course I do." Kagome: "You're pretty strong already, don't you think?" Inuyasha: "Be quiet, will ya? I'm going to become a full-fledged demon. I've already made up my mind. So quit bugging me about it, would ya?" Kagome: "I've been thinking. There's nothing wrong with staying the way you are. I mean, why not stay a half-demon? To be honest, I like you just the way you are."―Kagome telling Inuyasha that there's no need for him to become a full-fledged demon[src]
- "Inuyasha. We've talked about it before, haven't we? About me staying with you. I know that there's a bond between you and Kikyō and I know I can't ever ask you to forget about her. And yet... I'm going to stand by you, Inuyasha, it's what I know I have to do."―Kagome[src]
- "What you're saying to me is completely wrong. Inuyasha can never forget Kikyō and even though I can accept this rationally, I always feel pain and bitterness in my heart. But I still love him, so there's nothing I could do."―Kagome to the Infant about her heart's darkest part[src]
- "Just like Kikyō. She wished to see Inuyasha again. And even Naraku. I'm sure his wish was a modest one, too. What they didn't know was that the Shikon Jewel never grants your real wish... Is the one and only correct wish? The one and only correct wish. I just figured it out. I understand now... If Inuyasha hadn't come, I would have given in my fear of the darkness and would never have found the correct answer. But now, with Inuyasha by my side, I am not afraid anymore. Shikon Jewel, disappear! Forever!"―Kagome to herself and the Sacred Jewel about the correct wish[src]
- "Kagome... before I met you, I never trusted a living soul. But you've cried for my sake. You've always stayed by my side. When I'm with you, I feel so peaceful and happy. But I'm not supposed to be all ease and cheerful. Kikyō...Kikyō came after me and lost her life. So it's only fair that I repay her with my own life."―Inuyasha[src]
- "I couldn't save Kikyō. That pained me. I couldn't say that I was suffering. I felt like I had to bear this alone. But I was so focused on myself that I never considered your feelings. I never noticed that you were also suffering. Forgive me, Kagome."―Inuyasha[src]
- "You're wrong! That's not why Kagome was born! Kagome taught me how to smile, how to believe in people! Kagome was the reason I could make friends and rely on those friends! To shed tears for others, to understand true strength and kindness…They’re all things I learned from Kagome! Kagome was born to meet me! And I was born for her!"―Inuyasha[src]
- "I need you with me, Kagome. Haven't you realized that yet?!"―Inuyasha[src]
- "I was afraid. I thought I was going to lose you. I was terrified"―Inuyasha[src]
- "I just don't like giving up. There's a difference!"―Inuyasha[src]
Trivia[]
- In the Final Act's first theme song, the ending shows Inuyasha and Kagome with the Red string of fate attached to their pinky since they are destined to meet. In the Japanese culture, it is thought to be tied around the little finger/pinky finger.
- Episode 4 is the first time Inuyasha calls Kagome by her name.
- Episode 10, is also arguably the first time that Inuyasha openly shows that he cares about his companions. He's devastated over his apparent inability to save Kagome and Shippō and even goes so far as to say he doesn't care about the Jewel Shards, when in previous episodes, they were all he cared about.
- At the end of Episode 10 when Kagome smacks the Inuyasha on the head for making fun of Shippō, it sounded like a "Sit" command, even though she never says it in this episode.
