Their Relationship[]

Inuyasha[]

Aristocratic Assassin, Sesshomaru

5645123

Sesshomaru discovers that Kagome is a human being at the first moment he sees her.

Kagome rides her bike back to tree where she found Inuyasha staring off into the sky. All of a sudden a strong gust of wind makes Inuyasha jump off the tree and he hides Kagome and himself in the grass. As the clouds passed by a carriage surrounded by demons flies in the air; there is a woman inside. Inuyasha identifies the woman as his mother in front of Kagome. Out of nowhere a gigantic demon ogre grabs the carriage and crushes it with Inuyasha's mother inside. As Inuyasha tries to free her, he is stopped by a poison whip belonging to his older demon brother Sesshōmaru. After making sure that Inuyasha believes his mother has been brought back from the dead, Inuyasha successfully manages to free her by using his claws to cut off one of the demon's arms. He tells Kagome to look after his mom while he fights with Sesshōmaru and Jaken. Inuyasha is hit pretty hard after Sesshōmaru hits the ogre with his whip and then Inuyasha's mother stopped the ogre from further attacking her son with a bright light.

When Inuyasha wakes up he finds himself in a nearby pond where his mother tells him that she has to go back to the spirit world. Kagome wakes up in the same place and sees Inuyasha talking with his mother. She's calm until she looks into the pond and sees that Inuyasha's mom's face doesn't have a reflection in the water, which means that she isn't his mother. When she tries to tell Inuyasha the truth she finds out that she's paralyzed. A helpless Kagome looks at Inuyasha who doesn't know that this woman is deceiving him.

Tetsusaiga, the Phantom Sword

Kagome is woken up by Myōga, who sucks her blood and she realizes that she's less paralyzed than she initially thought. As the Unmother searches Inuyasha's soul for the location of the tomb, Kagome finds Jaken and strikes him, sending him flying into the water. She then takes the Staff of Two Heads before she chases after the Unmother. While running away with him, the Unmother begins to absorb Inuyasha and almost succeeds with only an arm remaining. Myōga tells Kagome that the woman is the Unmother, who feeds on the souls of lost children. Kagome sees the reflection in the water and they see the Unmother holding Inuyasha when he was a kid. She splashes the reflection, causing the Unmother to release Inuyasha. Sesshōmaru appears and tells them that he knows where the tomb is located.

As Inuyasha attacks Sesshōmaru, Sesshōmaru grabs his neck and stabs two fingers into Inuyasha's right eye, drawing out a small black pearl. Inuyasha attacks Sesshōmaru again, but he dodges and attacks Inuyasha. Just when he is about to strike him, the Unmother blocks Sesshōmaru's attack and takes the fatal blow instead. Myōga comments that even though she has no children, she has the heart of a mother and wanted to protect Inuyasha. Sesshōmaru tells Jaken to come to him and Jaken gives him the Staff of Two Heads. He places the staff's bottom onto the pearl, and the face of the old man on the staff laughs, opening a portal to the netherworld. Sesshōmaru and Jaken enter the portal with Inuyasha, Kagome, and Myōga quickly following behind.

They enter into the netherworld, which turns out to be a demon lord's grave. Skeletal vultures circle the humongous skeleton in armor which happens to be Inuyasha's father. Inside the skeleton, Sesshōmaru and Jaken have found what they've been looking for: the Tessaiga, a sword that was made from the fang belonging to Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru's father. When Sesshōmaru grabs the hilt of the sword, he isn't able to pull it out, and realizes that his father put up a barrier. Inuyasha, Kagome and Myōga find him and Myōga tells Inyasha to get the sword, revealing it was always intended that he inherit the sword after his father passed, which should be proof enough for him to be able to get it out.

Inuyasha doesn't think he should bother taking the sword due to its rusty appearance, remarking that it couldn't even cut wet paper. Myōga insists he pull it out, but Inuyasha cockily says his father can keep "the rusty piece of junk" and attempts to battle his brother again, but fails. Myōga says he cannot fight unarmed and must get the sword. This time, Kagome encourages him to "get the dumb sword," and says that if he can't hit Sesshōmaru's body then he can at least hurt his ego, convincing Inuyasha to attempt pulling out the sword. When Inuyasha tries, there is no barrier around the Tessaiga stopping him like it did Sesshomaru, but he isn't able to pull it out either despite his best strength.

Sesshōmaru loses his patience and attacks Inuyasha while Kagome fights Jaken, having gotten annoyed with him. After getting distracted, Sesshōmaru gets a hold of Inuyasha and is prepared to strike him. Jaken overwhelms Kagome when he knocks his staff into her gut and she places her hand on the sword's handle to steady herself. Sesshōmaru prepares his poison claws to kill Inuyasha and just when he is about to kill him, Kagome notices and calls out Inuyasha's name and unintentionally yanks out the sword, shocking everyone including herself. The episode ends with Kagome baffled that she successfully removed the sword.

Showdown! Inuyasha vs. Sesshomaru!

It begins where the last episode left off with Kagome having accidentally pulled out the Tessaiga despite Sesshōmaru and Inuyasha being unable to.

Sesshōmaru then forgets about Inuyasha and asks Kagome how she was able to draw the sword (unaware she could since she was human; not demon like he and Inuyasha) and then contemplates that she must die because of it. Inuyasha protests demanding he leave her alone as she was not involved in this and that she was only "a human girl," and tells Kagome to give Sesshōmaru the sword as there was no other choice. However, Kagome refuses saying that because he couldn't pull it out clearly meant he wasn't supposed to have it. Inuyasha then argues with her about the matter and Sesshōmaru then says Inuyasha's patience with Kagome was "astonishing" to him before adding on how he "protects her, indulge her, even seem to love her," (which Inuyasha answers with a simple frustrated sigh). Sesshōmaru then remarks these "feelings of mercy" weren't something he inherited from their father, but Inuyasha must have inherited from his mother and what made him have a connection towards humans, and then states that he bears no such weakness.

Sesshōmaru then blasts poison out of his hands at Kagome, completely burying her in a pile of it, apparently killing her as Inuyasha calls out her name. Sesshōmaru and Inuyasha then battle once again when Sesshōmaru insults half-breeds referring to Inuyasha. Inuyasha braces himself as Sesshōmaru launches more poison whips at him. Inuyasha gets more insults from Sesshōmaru for being called a half-demon.

Just when Inuyasha threatens him again Kagome suddenly bursts out of the poison pile perfectly unharmed. She is in a short rage for attempting to be killed before she quickly gives Inuyasha the sword so he can finish Sesshōmaru off. However, he is confused as to how she is still alive, but Sesshōmaru realizes that the sword is what preserved Kagome's life, something Myōga confirms. Sesshōmaru suddenly transform into a giant dog, which is his true demon form and starts releasing gas. Inuyasha orders Kagome and Myōga to get to higher ground so they won't get harmed and Kagome hesitantly does worrying about him since the gas will harm demons as well given in a few minutes. Sesshōmaru attacks Inuyasha and Inuyasha sees his sword isn't leaving so much as a scratch. Sesshōmaru eventually gets Inuyasha in his mouth and they battle outside the tomb where Kagome has escape too. Kagome attempts to encourage him saying that the swords is his and all he has to do is believe in it like she does him. Inuyasha calls her nuts saying he'll live since he's half demon whereas she "ain't got a chance." Kagome then starts to cry asking if this meant she should just give up hope. Inuyasha then demands her not to cry and when she mockingly asks if she should "laugh" he snaps at her that she should "shut up" and let him protect her, surprising Kagome.

Inuyasha resumes his fight telling her to stay where she is. Suddenly the sword begins to pulse and grows bigger and turns into a dog fang and when Sesshōmaru pounces onto Inuyasha with his left paw, Inuyasha jumps at him and cuts off his left arm. Inuyasha then declares that it was their father who chose to leave the sword to him, to hide his tomb in, and that he wasn't so worthless after all. Sesshōmaru attacks him one last time, but Inuyasha manages to defeat sending him off the skeleton. Jaken, shocked to see his lord defeated, rushes after him as the both escape to the normal world. Inuyasha takes back what he said about his sword earlier saying it's not a "piece of junk" after all. Myōga shows up with skeleton vultures for a ride home. They return to the normal world and the black pearl returns from to Inuyasha's right eye. They get back to Kaede's hut where Myōga informs Kaede about what happened. Keade asks why Kagome was able to get the Tessaiga where Sesshōmaru, who was a powerful daiyōkai, and Inuyasha couldn't. Myōga said that Kagome was mortal and the purpose of the Tessaiga was to protect Inuyasha's mother who was also a human and that it was Inuyasha's feelings towards mortals that enabled him to wield the sword. Kagome then recalls that when Inuyasha told her he would protect her the Tessaiga reacted. Kaede then says how to Inuyasha his half demon/human heritage has always been a curse and that his love for his mother has always been tinged with shame but yet those feelings is what make him different among other demons and why his father chose him for his resting place. She then speculates that maybe the one that most resembled their father was not Sesshōmaru but Inuyasha.

Naraku and Sesshomaru Join Forces

Inuyasha says that whatever is coming, it is big. Kagome senses that a jewel shard is fast approaching. Inuyasha comments on how the jewels don't usually come to them. Miroku and Inuyasha race after the jewel shard. The gigantic demon ogre appears with Sesshōmaru and Jaken riding on its shoulder. Sesshōmaru says that he is there for the Tessaiga. Miroku asks if Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru know one another to which Kagome replies that they are brothers. Kagome thinks to herself that Sesshōmaru couldn't wield Tessaiga last time and wonders what could have changed.

Inuyasha attempts to attack Sesshōmaru with Tessaiga. He avoids the attacks easily and comments on how Inuyasha has yet to release the full power of Tessaiga. On the next strike, Sesshōmaru grabs Inuyasha's wrist. As the poison from Sesshōmaru's nails burns Inuyasha's flesh, Sesshōmaru asks which will be the first to drop, Inuyasha's wrist or the sword. Inuyasha comments that it won't be the sword as he briefly overpowers him.

However, Sesshōmaru manages to knock the Tessaiga out of Inuyasha's hands. To Inuyasha and Kagome's surprise, Sesshōmaru is able to grasp the sword with his left hand. Jaken summons all the demons from the mountain, and Sesshōmaru demonstrates the true ability of Tessaiga, the ability to slaughter 100 demons with a single stroke.

When Kagome starts to run toward Inuyasha, Miroku tells her to wait. He steps in front of Inuyasha and says that he must put an end to “this foolish sibling rivalry”. As Inuyasha and Miroku argue, Jaken wonders if this is the monk that Naraku claimed could be more troublesome than Inuyasha. Unconvinced that he is a worthy opponent, Jaken asks Sesshōmaru if he can finish the monk off. When he goes to attack, Miroku unleashes the Wind Tunnel, partially absorbing Sesshōmaru's Ogre. Kagome exclaims that Miroku is the best. Then she turns to Inuyasha as an afterthought and says that he was good, too. Inuyasha sarcastically says that he could tell that was from the heart.

Sesshōmaru recalls how Naraku gave him the nest of the Saimyōshō to plug up the hole in the monk's right hand. He releases these poisonous wasps from hell, and they fly toward Miroku's hand. Miroku closes up his hand and tells Inuyasha that he will have to take over. Inuyasha uses Sankon Tessō to attack the wasps. Miroku tells Kagome that the insects have poisoned him with their venom. She tells him not to move as she runs off to get an antidote. As Inuyasha grabs Miroku to escape, Inuyasha says the Miroku is going to owe him big time. Then it occurs to him that Miroku could be in serious trouble.

As Sesshōmaru approaches, Inuyasha realizes that they are trapped and can be done in with a single strike of the Tessaiga. Sesshōmaru tells them that this is the end as he sends another attack towards them. They manage to survive by hiding behind the fallen gigantic demon ogre. Sesshōmaru tells them to run and hide while they can because it is the only choice left for them. On the other hand, he says that Inuyasha would at least die with honor if he stands up and faces his death.

After Sesshōmaru knocks the sheath out of Inuyasha's hands, he says that in one strike it will be over. Before he can unleash his attack, an arrow strikes Tessaiga and reverses its transformation. It is Kagome standing poised to shoot another arrow. Kagome commands Sesshōmaru to drop the sword otherwise the next arrow will strike his heart. Inuyasha calls out to her, but she tells him to stay back. Miroku thinks to himself that it must be true that Kagome is the reincarnation of the priestess Kikyō.

Go Home To Your Own Time, Kagome!

Having deactivated Tessaiga with her arrow, Kagome fires another arrow at Sesshōmaru's borrowed left arm, but Sesshōmaru dodges and leaps at her; Inuyasha manages to divert him at the last minute. Kagome warns Inuyasha about the Shikon shard in Sesshōmaru's arm, but Inuyasha urges her to look after Miroku, since her modern medicine may have more of an effect on the Saimyōshō venom. He does thank her for her help, though, saying that he can beat Sesshōmaru now that he no longer has the Tessaiga's power. However, this makes Kagome wonder if she should be worried (given that Inuyasha always disdains relying on others for help).

Inuyasha, meanwhile, has deduced that Sesshōmaru's borrowed arm is from a human, thus giving him the ability to use Tessaiga. If Inuyasha removes the arm, not only will he have his sword back, but he will gain another Shikon shard as well. Unfortunately, even without Tessaiga, Sesshōmaru is both faster and stronger than his half-brother, and the resulting fight leaves Inuyasha battered. However, Sesshōmaru's armor is suddenly shattered by another of Kagome's arrows. Sesshōmaru insists she stay out of the fight, arguing that, half-breed though he is, Inuyasha should honor his demon heritage by fighting without human aid. Fearing Sesshōmaru's wrath against Kagome, Inuyasha also tells her to retreat, but she instead fires another arrow; however, Sesshōmaru catches it mid-air and incinerates it with his poison claws, just as Tessaiga starts to re-activate. Angered by her interference, Sesshōmaru fires a blast of energy at her, which Inuyasha tries to intercept. Because Tessaiga is not yet at full power, the blast merely throws Kagome and Inuyasha backward rather than killing them, but Kagome strikes her head against a rock and is knocked unconscious. Enraged, Inuyasha declares that Sesshōmaru will regret attacking her. Miroku, having recovered somewhat, offers to use the Wind Tunnel, but Inuyasha points out that some of the Saimyōshō are still alive and Miroku would merely poison himself again. He orders Shippō and Miroku to take Kagome and flee.

At that moment, Tessaiga regains its full power; Sesshōmaru launches another attack, but Inuyasha intercepts his wrist mid-swing, dispelling the attack before it can hit his comrades. He yells again for them to flee, which they do. Taking advantage of Inuyasha's distraction, Sesshōmaru impales him through the torso with his poison-clawed right hand. Kagome, being carried by Miroku, revives in time to witness Inuyasha's injury; distraught and ignoring Miroku's warnings, she heads back toward Inuyasha. Sesshōmaru mocks Inuyasha as he withdraws his claws, but Inuyasha reveals that Sesshōmaru let his guard down; he was able to tear the hand off Sesshōmaru's human arm, enabling him to re-claim Tessaiga.

Badly weakened by blood loss and Sesshōmaru's venom, Inuyasha staggers to his knees, still holding Tessaiga upright. Jaken, believing he is unconscious, attempts to approach, but Sesshōmaru warns him to stop, and a small burst of energy fired from Tessaiga sends the imp fleeing. The sword responds to Inuyasha's will whether he's conscious or not, and if they try to take it, he will strike them down. Deciding that Tessaiga is beyond his reach (for now), Sesshōmaru at last retreats. Kagome, Miroku and Shippō rush toward Inuyasha, who finally collapses from his torso wound.

Hachiemon gives Miroku, Kagome, Shippō and Inuyasha a ride home; Miroku is recovering, but Inuyasha is nearly unconscious from his injuries. Kagome and Shippō discuss the battle, particularly how Sesshōmaru gained the Saimyōshō hive from Naraku; it seems the one that both Inuyasha and Miroku are hunting, is hunting them as well. Unknown to Kagome, Inuyasha overhears the conversation.

Vanishing Point; Naraku Disappears

When Kagome detected a shard of jewel that was apparently Kohaku's, Inuyasha had to hurry to his butt pull out.

5464

Kagome takes care of Rin for Sesshomaru.

They had to make sure that Kohaku doesn't kill Rin by any means. If they delay enough time to feel for themselves, little Rin will not be able to live the rest of her life, and Kohaku's life will also be taken by Sesshomaru.

But hopelessly, when they arrived at Sesshomaru, Kohaku and Rin,

Kohaku was preparing to fight Sesshomaru. Seshomaru was looking down at the boy without ready for upcoming battle.

Inuyasha, who had no time to mere worry about Kohaku, slapped Kohaku's cheek hard. Kohaku collapsed without resistance. Kagome gently hugged the girl lying on the grass to watch her condition. Rin was safe. The cold gaze of the Demon Lord lingered on them for a moment before heading for Inuyasha.

Sesshomaru, meanwhile, knew Naraku's intentions in Kohaku's dull, empty eyes. Naraku intended to use Sesshomaru to retrieve the boy's jewels by killing Kohaku, and to use him to create unnecessary friction with his brother and his family. He doesn't. Soon after Sesshomaru put down Kohaku, Rin wakes up, farewell to Kagome, and then leaves with Sesshomaru.

S04 E26 The Stealthy Poison Master: Mukotsu!

54646

Sesshoumaru ripped out Mukotsu's back.

Kagome checked the shards of jewel buried under the thick flesh before putting two thin candles on his neck. Kagome believed they will save her.

Her resolution was broken when she was strangled by Mukotsu's hand. Kagome felt it was getting harder to breathe.

Kagome felt her neck relaxed almost before she fainted. The poison's color, as frightening as its beautiful color, spread like paint in her vision and a tall demon dressed up to the nines appeared.

As Kagome thought, Sesshomaru saved her.

Kagome questions Sesshomaru.

Naraku used the tainted sacred jewel to corrupt Inuyasha's mind and make him hurt Kagome. Kagome was attacked by Inuyasha and injured in her arm. She fainted somewhere on the Naraku's flesh without healing the wound. She is in danger of losing her life to a flock of weak but deadly demons sent by Naraku.

Sesshomaru let's Kagome use his Mokomoko.

Even under Magatsuhi's curse, her spiritual power was sealed.

Fortunately, Sesshomaru appears behind her, protects her thoroughly until she wakes up and her spiritual power returns. Sesshomaru flies with her aboard his mokomoko on the way to Rin. She was also protected from Inuyasha, who is still controlled by Magatsuhi.

When she went to pull Tetsusaiga from Naraku's flesh so that she wouldn't accidentally die, he watched her from time to time and thought about the best timing to cut Magatsuhi off from controlling Kagome's soul.

InuYasha Movie 3 -- Swords Of An Honorable Ruler[]

In the third movie, their bond stands out the most among all Inuyasha movies. For most of the show time, Sesshomaru, Kagome, Rin and Inuyasha look like siblings. Sesshomaru protects Jaken and Rin, and Kagome and Inuyasha, who he thought he wanted to protect at the end of the movie Inuyasha protects Kagome and his pack. Kagome mainly protects Inuyasha mentally, as it does in animation.

Kagome even encourages Rin to run away first so that she doesn't get hurt. Sometimes she play the role of mediator between the Inu brothers.

Kagome expects the brothers to cooperate with each other, but when they don't listen to her, she directly attacks So'unga's arm.

After the ending credits, they talk about Sesshomaru. Kagome mentions his little ward Rin as the basis for the argument, saying Sesshomaru does not seem to dislike humans.

Evidence[]

  • There is a paragraph about their theme fragrance in Trivia of this document, which consists of a total of 12 flavors, and they share six. (Lemon, Lilly, Rose, Jasmine, Amber, Musk)
  • They are the characters who interact most with Rin. Sesshomaru and Kagome are always devoted to Rin, and when they are together, they are naturally for each other and do not want to pay.
  • In fact, there is no female character more friendly to Rin than Kagome. In animation episode 81, Kagome was the first to run to her in order not to hurt Rin if the Inu brothers and Kohaku fought, and also to take care of her.
  • It was the first time Kagome and Rin were aware of each other, and when Rin said goodbye to Kagome, Kagome unconsciously spoke that she is already missing Rin.
  • In animation episode 79, Kagome first realized that Sesshoumaru was accompanying Rin as his ward, and she thought it was unbelievable.
  • Since animation episode 52, they have generally maintained a friendly relationship and try to praise even if they are clumsy whenever they discover their strengths. In episode 104, Kagome tries to defend Sesshoumaru by explaining to Inuyasha that he did not hurt her and her pack.
  • In TFA episode 26, Kagome calls Sesshoumaru Big Brother. Sesshoumaru doesn't like such a disrespectful title, but he ignores Jaken, who suggests punishing Kagome, and declares that he would rather kill his faithful servant if Jaken didn't stop nagging.

This rather fluffy situation reveals that Sesshoumaru has no objection to Kagome's intimacy with him.

Published in 2013, the 35th anniversary set of Rumiko Takahashi's debut features cartoons she has shown during her 35 years in the cartoon industry. Of course, there's also the Inuyasha section, so read the passage that explains Sesshoumaru's character development process. Rin is not the only one who made Seshoumaru feel compassionate. Kagome, along with Rin, had a significant impact on his current character.
